540 or 54?
--------------------
First, to the question that is probably what many (like me at first) be put: What is the difference between the Abus Granit X-Plus 540 and 54 (apart from 0). Unfortunately I could make on the official site of Abus no differences, however, it is said in various forums that the 540 is simply a slightly newer, revised version, in which the plastic sheath has been improved. This is confirmed by the history of Amazon, because the 540 is only since 2014 inventory, while there is the 54er much longer.
Security
------------------------------------
As regards safety, the castle is well with the best of what there is to buy so. I had (and probably many here) to decide between this and the folding lock Bordo of Abus. I have indeed ultimately decided for the Bordo, but more on that later. According to various tests padlocks are certainly still the safest. Moreover Warentest this castle is at Foundation been tested with the best and it has the VdS-Seal, in which I personally attach great importance. According to YouTube videos you do not get the lock with a bolt cutter by and against lock-picking, it is, as opposed to older models, particularly secured.
Eazy-KF bracket
----------------------------
Who the reviews read through to the Eazy KF holder (namely is also available separately) may possibly be deterred, but this wrongly. The bad reviews probably come from the fact that the holder is not suitable for the normal lock (without mounting). Because this castle here has the strap an extra recording (see pictures). Equipping the holder so even after, you have probably scrape the plastic cover, so you can assemble this recording. Because here, but this is already integrated, there is no problem. The mount itself is in my opinion top. The snapping of the lock works great and is securely and firmly in it. The assembly to the frame goes well (there are 2 different length screws couples here). The castle sits either right in the middle of the frame (as proposed by Abus) or (as in my case, see pictures) on the side of the frame.
Conclusion - Why but the Bordo?
-----------------------------------------
The Abus Granit X-Plus 540 earned a strong buy recommendation. There is (at least it was in my case) much cheaper than the '54 model, although unfortunately probably still unknown to Amazon, although it is the newer, better version. The bracket which is up to my expectations and is thoroughly recommended. Above all, the security should be thanks to VdS-Seal guarantees in any case.
The Bordo (Folding) I prefer nevertheless, because it then something fancier looks at my bike matte black, as a padlock on the side. Also, I've been using the Bordo to connect more opportunities the wheel, since the rigid bracket often not wide enough. However, the U-lock is probably safer as the chain links may be potential vulnerabilities.
