Hazel is 16 years old and she has cancer, thyroid cancer with metastases in the lungs to be exact, and she is doing in his own words "okay". So ok, life can be even when one lives on his predicted death beyond 2 years long. In a support group for cancer patients she meets Augustus, named Gus, a 17-year-old who lost his right leg because of a bone tumor.
Both are fascinated by each other. Gus admired Hazels snide cleverness and Hazel ... Hazel is carried away by his tempestuous admiration, his life-coolness, back to life. Outside of their tumor shaded world there are video games and music, there are Amsterdam, laughter, flowers snow, champagne, driving, heroism and Gus.
"The Fault in Our Stars" is a love story, a history of cancer, is a philosophical journey. If you write about young people who die of cancer, it's hard not to be melodramatic, but John Green manages. He finds expressive words that are sometimes quite wonderfully poetic, the pay of sadness beauty by emphasizing the courage and the strength, not the oppressive heaviness.
He has a talent for character drawings, even if they all sometimes after John sound that I made to his Youtube - Videos know.
But I'm too charmed by the language, as that bothers me the. I'm not a big collector quotes, but this book provides a wealth of records that touched me.
This youth book is like not only for young people but for all the intelligent books. I adore since the first few pages.
private Note: There was this moment in reading (p.279) When all was perfect sadly, I really start crying. Not this noisy moisty sort of crying but still little wet drops running down my check. I stopped reading the book cause i do not want this moment go away. I want to dwell in this sadness a while longer, crying for Gus and Hazel and I've lost a friend.
