Starting point: Have here a general store of equipment as there would be: Toshiba TV, Pioneer receiver, PS3, Technisat Digicorder and a DVD player. I use a classic universal remote about 70 keys. Only an expert (I do!) Can configure all the devices so that the picture and sound are turned on and run synchronously. The idea was to control the whole thing with the Harmony and thus to make the equipment pool to the other residents to use. The Logitech Harmony is shapely and does very well on the coffee table. Charger is also well designed. The color display is fairly low resolution and angle-dependent. The number of buttons is unlike my previous FB low. Frequently used keys one desires greater. So the keys for volume are performed a bit lost as narrow paddles. A control of TV volume and receiver volume with separate buttons as with my currently used FB is not provided. The Harmony defines a set of device types (TV, receiver, DVD '). Per PC programming from the very extensive Library of Logitech (thus with me about the Pioneer receiver), the allocation of these generic types with Physical Devices. Then can be standard features of these devices with the existing keys to remotely control special functions by selecting from the menu that appears on the LCD. Complex switching operations can be defined on the PC, or about 1 TV a 2nd receiver on, switch 3. Receiver input. In theory, a great thing. BUT: Problem 1: Many devices use for A / Auschaltvorgänge an identical remote control code. When it is sent and the device is on, it is turned off. It is off, it is turned on. The FB must therefore know whether that device is currently in, or not. Does she know but unfortunately not always, because the switching commands are transmitted via infrared yes with direct line of sight. If a command is not the device, because you have about the FB misaligned, then turned up only half the equipment pool. But in order to solve the problem somehow, the Harmony has a problem-solving mode. As of the date of the status of the Wizard device is queried and corrected individually. Is very complicated, and it quickly picks it back to the old FBs Problem 2: My TV has an input selector scarf term which also does not allow direct election of the entrance. Again, the inputs are switched through. Somehow counting the FB and the actual input came running out of synchronization in my case. So readjust awkward again. Problem 3: already mentioned above. Frequently used buttons are often cumbersome only accessible by menu. Property me the theater weekend looked and then I returned to the old solution. For those with newer appliances, which have discrete remote control codes, determined not a bad solution. For me? Three stars.
