Alas hard to find (I got it through a UK site), this recording of the Requiem Chesnokov is particularly extraordinary because of fabulously deep bass voice of Vladimir Pasyukov. The work is of great beauty. Composed ves 1913, it was played in a few occasions before the 1917 revolution, and then had to wait the end of the Soviet Union and the beginning of the twenty-first century to be resurrected triumphantly with particular scripts in Cathedral the Peter and Paul Fortress on the occasion of the solemn interment of the remains of the imperial family in the presence of Vladimir Putin. This is a powerful and grave beauty.
