... At the same time, this wonderful disc. It is the result of the first collaboration between Fitzgerald and Armstrong from the year 1956th They are accompanied by very subtle Oscar Peterson Trio (then Herb Ellis on guitar and Ray Brown on bass) and Buddy Rich on drums. The album is surrounded by a very special, something mysterious and self-contained atmosphere. The songs are all more or less calm, but not without momentum. It almost seems as if everyone were in this very specific meaty mood fused together, which also attracts the listener immediately into its spell. Nevertheless, these two great characters come in all its sublime diversity advantage. Wonderfully, the effect, if the first one and a quarter minutes only Ella and the subtly swinging accompaniment part and then Louis unique voice, the whole of a sudden gives a completely new character, but at the same time integrate with any matter of course. Better can hardly be a duet, with Ellas partners alternately course as "the" is the trumpet.
The sound quality of these in the process with 96 kHz and 24-bit remastered CD is great, although the bass compared to something fully to deep sound, which, although the sound does not interfere with the bass but something assumes Detailiertheit and sharpness. The middle tones sound very clean and the time reasonably reduced dynamically, the votes so brilliantly and almost a bit stressed that the two seem to be in the room.
Not only a great historical document, but great music for many occasions.
