In our old Dyson DC05 the carbon brushes were (for the non-specialists: This is a consumable part in universal motors). At the end I would have to get only the brushes for 10, but then decided the same for this new engine (30), as well as the commutator had clear seizing marks.

The change was carried out in 30 minutes, vacuum cleaner sucks again: -D
Quick Start Guide for the Dyson DC05: the upper cover on the hinge lever out, pull both wheels, then 4 Torx screws are visible. This and the highly visible screw top Remove (5 screws are loosened). Everything else is self-explanatory. If one uses the new engine, first insert the rubber bushing in the lower plastic part and then let slip into the motor.
