As the owner of a 15-year-old Mag-Lite 2D I have often wished lately an LED version in order to gain more luminosity, beam range and endurance. After of Mag-Lite initially appeared a version with 131 Lumen, since 2012, the 274 lumens per version on the market. For 44 euros, I could do no wrong. I use them only in the focused beam. At 5m, there is a narrow, about 20cm very bright spot, then a 1m wide medium bright ring. The external illumination range is approximately 4m wide. Who does not interfere with the weight which would be a long bright (up to 12 hours, but brightness decreases!), Very bright lamp. I currently operate with D batteries from ALDI. Property me now directly in the US two battery holders (TITANIUM 3AA1D-PAR adapter) purchased for each 3-AA batteries, hoping thus to an inexpensive, rechargeable solution. For people with similar thoughts: The battery holder must the AA batteries "parallel" switch! Models with serial circuit exceed the permissible voltage of 1.5 volts.
