Pros:
- The WLAN stick has the chip RT2870, the manufacturer Ralink provides drivers for Linux sources for download.
- The Linux kernel version 2.6.28-11 (K / Ubuntu 9:07) has already installed the driver, you have nothing more to compile / install here.
- The configuration works smoothly with the GNOME NetworkManager applet 0.7.0.100.
- The driver is stable.
Cons:
- Unfortunately, I have all ~5 minutes lag of about 1000ms. This is possibly the Linux driver, (or I caught a Monday model?), Which is not yet fully developed. But disturbs only for online games, surfing / download I realize nothing.
- Manual Compiling / Installing and configuring the va driver (eg under Ubuntu 8.10) is relatively complicated.
- KDE KNetworkManager and older GNOME NetworkManager can not or not fully configure the device apparently.
Conclusion:
- Well suited for Linux distributions with the current kernel.
