Yes, the rubber attachment smells very badly and lies down only after a longer airing - but not completely.
The real problem of this combination of a very long, strong, stable and therefore heavy (!) Gooseneck and a good but quite small clamp is that they do not match. The compound having two screws / nuts is very shaky. I tried the screws tightened but they were already established only still shaking the gooseneck at the junction arg.
The heavy weight of the gooseneck could crash the clip with an attached flash SLR system because the terminal was not able to hold the entire weight.
After the two components both have a very high quality I will tinker a bit and they continue to use them elsewhere. I can recommend not combining but.
