When it was all connected, I have started the PC, the monitor was 7 immediately and easily detected under Windows and everything changed according to widescreen. The image quality has first blew me away or office chair. All reservations that I had, because I knew only TFTs of the older generation were refuted. The screen supports full HD resolution, and which also makes the PC really something forth. The colors are for normal users, so if one operates not just professional image editing, absolutely convincing.
The menu - if you ever need it for - is clearly designed and easy to use. So if you are not satisfied with the default settings can readjust the color, contrast and brightness fairly simple.
Then of course once the accompanying 3D drivers ("TriDef") have installed (as easily), to finally come sometimes to enjoy 3D at home. Patience I needed then, as even a first update was available for the software. But then off we went. The monitor comes with two so-called polarized glasses, one normal and one with a clip to attach it to an existing glasses can. The glasses feel much better as the ones you know from the movies, and is also processed quality. Even after prolonged wear, I could no bruising or sontiges notice.
When you first start the software a calibration screen displays, so you can place yourself and the monitor ideal. This is important because of the 3D effect can be achieved only in a very limited viewing angle without diplopia etc.. There is a downside to the screen: It can be adjusted only in the angle of inclination, but not in its height. If the height do not fit you either adjust the office chair up / down, or the screen or the like on a thicker base, a book place. Another, though smaller aspect that I noticed is negative: the software itself, with which one selects the content (movie file / DVD / images / games) will be shown in 3D. After selecting the file type, a window opens to select the file itself - unfortunately in 2D and through the lens is difficult to read.
After all settings done, lowered the office chair and the glasses were placed, it finally happened: 3D home! The included software can convert normal 2D content in 3D, which you can enjoy including already existing games, pictures, DVDs and BluRays in 3D - or be able to do. I was initially skeptical that the 3D effects which are truly comparable from the cinema. Course would be for a comparison, a film was actually produced in 3D, makes sense. Such unfortunately I do not own, so I can only describe my impressions based on 2D productions.
Movies / DVDs: The effect is at times very good effect, sometimes but then again not. I guess that depends heavily on the film, and how clearly distinguish there the foreground and background of each other. This must be the software Yes recognize and convert anyway. So I was, for example, the 3D result in the film "2012" disappointed (although my expectations were quite high), Zombieland, however, has inspired me.
Games: It is the same with games. Some games are supported, and the results are absolutely impressive. Others, however, can not be converted apparently, the 3D effect is nil. To this end, but there is a list that is available on the Internet. As far as I will this constantly extended by updates white.
Images: What most impressed me the software, however, on the translation of photos and images. To date, all the images could be converted, as the consideration of the old holiday photos makes even more fun.
All in all, I would absolutely recommend the monitor. It provides a relatively low-cost entry into the 3D world, and the technology is simpler and more user-friendly than the shutter technique. Biggest drawback is the viewing angle for me. If the viewing angles found but this is because there is no longer a problem. Even in 2D usage can absolutely convince the device. Thanks to LED technology, it is relatively economical: the energy saved + the corresponding CO2 value compared to a conventionally backlit display (CCFL) is displayed every time you start the monitor.
So, I hope that I agree with this report something could help you decide. I myself wanted to wait for the first reviews, but the impatience was then too strong ...
