it can (just like the old kasettenbasierten Dictaphones) overwrite recording from the date on which you 'wound', has! Thus, it is an adequate replacement for the old cassette dictation machines for me. Of course, where (and with the current high-end digital models) ergonomics is even better, but enough for me's. And you can set even if the device is to append to the end of the current note or to just override. I am more than satisfied, price / performance standard that was a very good buy.
Also, because the device is based on open standards: the batteries are two AAA (with current battery easily to operate) and the memory can be expanded via microSD. The term is probably more than enough for me, the battery indicator has at least not yet moved.
The software recognizes the voice dictations very well - provided you dictate according to DIN 5009 and has trained the speech recognition tidy. And one can of course only one speaker (usually probably himself) train - interview or lecture recordings can not vertexten so. But that's what I knew from the outset and that's what I wanted.
