In Ratman, Sekihiko Inui presents an interesting world where heroes have become a real business: popular with the general public, they have partnerships with big companies that fund their costumes, appear in commercials ... It must even get a permit to enter the profession because is not superhero who wants! Ratman and raises several issues related to the concept of vigilante: What does being a hero? Is it enough to have a license and wear a suit to be on the side of good or is it a question of values? And what distinguishes a villain who wants to be a hero in the end?
The humor is also present. The characters seem aware of belonging to a aeuvre fiction and remind the by small winks aeil that make readers smile. Moreover, we quickly attaches to them. Special mention to Jacky, these skeletal beings created to become side-kicks (partners) Shuto, full of goodwill but always end gaffer. Laughter guaranteed!
The graphics, for their part, are pleasant. Without being revolutionary, they put right back into the atmosphere, making serious or caricatural, whenever required.
Ratman is a bit of a Zetman that does not take itself seriously, a manga that combines humor and reflection, both serious and entertaining. In short, an excellent shounen which I long to know what happened!
