Super lens with small weaknesses

I have now been ordered this lens the second time, but not because it has given me so much the first time. Therefore briefly to history: About a year ago I have this lens already ordered and returned it frustrated after a few days. My first copy had several shortcomings -> 1. The zoom ring was so heavy that it has wiggled noticeably on the bayonet. 2. the focus was well next to it, so that all the pictures looked so totally soft. At maximum aperture I would have in this price still understood but even stopped down to 5.6 and 8 were the images simply not sharp (there was even sharper my kit). At that time, however, I have ordered no second copy, but the Sigma 17-70 mm DC Macro OS HSM F2,8-4,0. With this lens, I was quite happy at my former EOS 1100D, even if it did not have the continuous aperture of 2.8. (After all, panel 4 is in 70mm still not bad)
Meanwhile, I switched on the Canon EOS 650D and was with the imaging performance of the sigmoid colon simply no longer satisfied. The pictures that I have thus made holidays during my London were on the computer quite disappointing. The Sigma was too fuzzy around the edges simply and also the center has not exactly covered itself with glory.
These pictures have me then to moved to make me again on the search for a strong light standard zoom that but still remains affordable for me. In the end I landed back at OFFERED Tamron and have a lot of thinking to be ordered again.
And what can I say? I was this time not disappointed! (Now we finally come to what really interests you;))
After the lens arrived for me it was immediately tested through its paces. The first thing I noticed immediately was that the zoom ring lies rotate butter soft and was not adjusted as its predecessor for the Hulk. So get out and shot pictures.

+++ +++ Image quality

The pictures are also in this lens is not up to the edge knackscharf but much sharper than that of Sigma. The lens forms off nicely sharp and cuts similar in the 100% view as well from my Canon EF 40mm STM (which incidentally worth every penny). I Briefly am absolutely satisfied with the picture quality. However, what I really like is the continuous maximum aperture of 2.8. At full aperture the sharpness is much higher than I expected and absolutely satisfactory. In addition, results from the large aperture a very nice background blur or bokeh. Dimmed the optics shows, however their true potential. The focus then takes again markedly and it is a real pleasure to photograph it, both in wide-angle and telephoto in the small. The lack of 20mm focal length, compared to the Sigma me the way is not really missing. I'd rather have less zoom and for a great sharpness.

+++ Haptic / processing +++

The processing is entirely sufficient in my eyes. But I am also "only" a hobby photographer and not a professional of resistant and weatherproof optics needs to earn a living with it. Although you realize that you have plastic in their hands, but what is not a drawback for me. The included lens hood is simple and easy plastic, but served its purpose. I'm glad that at all is a :). The zoom ring is as already described above pleasant to shoot. It provides enough resistance that makes the lens for Suspended camera or photograph into heaven not independently, but is also soft enough that you can operate it with two fingers. For my taste, the lens is quite hard but in a continuous aperture of 2.8 has just purely because a lot of glass.

You probably wonder why I still only four and not five stars awarded. The star deduction I give for the single in my eyes big minus point of this lens. It used for the autofocus a micromotor and no USM or the like. While this is not overly loud, the sound is nevertheless unpleasant. The speed suffers also under the micromotor. This is for my application though not a problem, but you want to scan fast and action-packed scenes so you could thus reach the limits of optics.

Conclusion:
+ Good sharpness even at full aperture
+ Continuous maximum aperture of 2.8
+ Enclosed Lens Hood
+ Great Image Stabilizer of the viewfinder image "freezes"
+ Price / performance ratio is absolutely top!
o haptics and workmanship are ok but nothing more
- Micromotor for focusing

All in all you do with this lens just nothing wrong if you are simply looking for an upgrade for your kit lens or a standard zoom for your DSLR. (Assuming you get a good copy) What bothers me here really only the micromotor.
