- Built-in image stabilizer
- High quality, dust and spritzwassergeschüztes magnesium housing
- Very good interface and intuitive menu navigation (is of course matter of habit)
- And of course the existing lenses ...
Minus points for the K200D like a relatively strong noise at ISO 1600, lower frame rate in continuous shooting, small, low-resolution display and a weak autofocus, when the K-5 are no longer an issue.
The quality of the photos, in my opinion at all DSLRs with the same chip size comparable well and is mainly influenced by the lenses used. The raw images of the K-5 were previously all very well and gave no cause for complaint, which is why I will not go into further thereon. Problems such as spots (Perlenketten effect) on the sensor, I can not make up for nearly 1,000 recordings. The serial number is (408 ...)
I am mainly switched to the K-5 because of the better light sensitivity and the video function. However, I was already clear that a good DSLR HD video camera can not replace. Many posts in forums criticize the poor sound quality, or the lack of autofocus during recording. Whoever believes in this camera to turn hours of their holiday, should look for something else. I use the video function mainly for short clips that serve as footage or templates for animations (eg smoke and particle effects, or macro product shots)
Because I am very confident in total from the camera, I will mention now the things that I have noticed negative, and remove the camera from "Perfect".
VIDEO:
- During video recording, the focus on the display is hard to assess.
- There is only the possibility to adjust the aperture manually.
- The AVIs generated are very large.
- The rolling shutter effect is at fast pans or movements clearly. This technical problem occurs because the CMOS sensor used here, as it is used in almost all DSLRs.
SENSOR
- The APS-C format is a minus point for me, because Pentax has to offer no full frame solution. The field in the viewfinder is too small for my taste, in order to determine the focus point accurately. This is especially important for macro photography and night shots. I hope that the ordered viewfinder lens creates some remedy.
HDMI output
- When capturing video, unfortunately, only an enlarged view of the camera screen is displayed on the monitor. I would have liked the full HD video signal.
What pleasantly surprised me:
- With the function "Interval Shooting" I have been able to capture some beautiful cloud formations and people bustle in motion.
- "Multiple Exposure" is a nice feature to generate creative picture compositions locally.
- I'm curious on the optional GPS device, which allows you to photograph the wonderful starry sky, in which the integrated image stabilizer is used to compensate for the sky rotation. For professionals perhaps just a toy, for me as an amateur but just right ;-)
For kit lens I can not say much because I do not use it. We noticed, however, to me is the seal on the bayonet lock page. As a team, you can go take pictures with body and appearance without hesitation in the pouring rain.
Finally, I forgive 4.5 points for a well designed and high-sound product. The enumerated weaknesses are offset by the price again. Who wants that little bit of more, you have to look around for twice the money for a 5D Mark II.
