After delivery I have 3TB WD Green screwed into the NAS and then connected to the wireless router via the LAN.
The NAS has been recognized by the router, computer and Synology Assistant immediately and could be set up, which unexpectedly fell slightly as a newcomer himself for me.
What you really have to bring a lot of time is the initial index of your hard drive. With 3TB go as fast time 10 hrs. On it. Especially in the beginning if you want to get started and set up is not easy! ;)
The other settings for users, groups, data protection, etc. go thanks DSM5, so the working surface of the Disk Station easily, mostly self-explanatory. There is also on YouTube videos to great and any questions the Synology forum.
We protect our computer now on the DiskStation and once a week I do a backup via Time Backup on an external hard drive, which I then again separate from the system. So all data remain me in the event of a lightning strike or other disasters in safety.
As for the computing power, so can easily simultaneously seen several movies and / or music to be heard. No stuttering or anything!
Access via apps running smoothly because the apps are well done and clearly. So I could save even just the images at home on the NAS on vacation and had on the mobile phone / camera down again. Internet required!
The NAS switch when not in use to stand-by mode and also can be set at any time and for automatic up / down driving.

Runs almost noiseless and does not consume much power.
