The absolute highlight of the game is the visual layout with lovingly hand-drawn backgrounds and characters that would make an expensive picture book of honor. This is orders of magnitude more beautiful and "personal" than any 3D graphics (I remember Monkey Iceland 4, the graphically represented a massive regression in relation to part 3). It certainly has a soft spot for the rusted atmosphere somewhere between end time, Steampunk and junkyard - but for me it's perfect. It is also astonishing how much sympathy you can develop for actually rather simple animated, mechanical robotic figures, if they are designed with a heart. The second highlight is the absolutely successful soundtrack, which could not be better - perfectly matched to the scene and made so that people like to listen to him consciously, but also the focus on the game never feels it as intrusive or annoying.
The action itself is dramatically simple and follows all clichés of adventure film: In the "fortress" (in this case a city) to penetrate the evil, are following a nasty plan to defeat the evil, defuse the bomb and save the girl. But do not bother, but solves more of a home feeling from. The details on the way there are original thought and mostly easy to solve if you have internalized the partially somewhat oblique logic of the game once.
This refers to the tasks that are part of the actual act, see, for example, objects to repair something -. Typical adventure puzzles halt. In between, however, one must also solve various puzzle games. Often within switch boxes o. Ä are arranged to bring certain mechanisms in motion. Some will see this as nice change, but for me this is the biggest point of criticism, because this logic puzzles are sometimes much harder than the rest of the game and have often driven me to the brink of enervation. In the normal action even my five year old son was able to think with great, on the other hand, logic puzzles even had I repeatedly fit. I say it this way: If you liked magic cube (Rubik's Cube) is too heavy or too long, you will be in some of these games have no fun. If you love a challenge of this nature, it can certainly be fun.
There is fortunately a built solution book that you have however, earn a small type game "Scramble" (each time new). It took a while until I found out that you can control the game with the arrow keys and the spider can shoot with the space bar - it is no longer difficult. Tip: take a screenshot of the relevant Page, so you can daily into play even after returning.
The second criticism is in control. Generally, it is simple and accurate, but for some reason you can not cancel a once initiated movement. If you have executed clicks somewhere, the little guy runs stubborn there and Does not Halt or deflect from the finish. Even more annoying that you can pick from the inventory at the site of the use items only. If one does it before the robot assumes no movement commands. Only drawback is that every click on the right mouse button (happened to me as Monkey Iceland veteran full time) in the context menu of Flash Player can appear.
Otherwise, my game was (except for the aforementioned logic puzzles) too short - would like to have much longer roams this magnificent world. An epic like Monkey Iceland & Co. can not be expected here. Nevertheless for me the best adventure for a long time. I very much hope for a sequel.
