In the game, players assume the roles of various series characters, each with different characteristics (advantages and disadvantages). So the pilots with vipers (small menschl. Hunters) can participate in space battles, while others damage Galactica u.ä repair. Players take on the chairman or the Admiralty and so must meet some hairy decision or "Just looking commands to teammates grant".
So you play cooperatively against the board game. Unfortunately ... not quite. Have but depending on the number of players at least 1-2 Cylons sneaked aboard! This attempt, of course concealed everywhere against the people to work. It may even happen that one experiences only towards the middle of the game that you're a Cylon !!
Revealed Cylon left the Galactica and may in special Zylonenorten mischief.
The problems that have to solve the players are checked via so-called skill checks. For each player plays any number of suitable (or unsuitable!) Cards face down, 2 cards are unknown by "a fate stack", then is mixed and checks to see if you've made this challenge. If so, usually nothing happens, if not, then what is broken, someone in jail and other unpleasant things. Cylon ships are always also activated etc.
The nice thing about the game is not the facilities, which is certainly very appropriate and beautiful, but it is far from mechanized warfare, which one is accustomed of Fantasy Flight Games. (I was downright surprised when I opened the box and not 1-2 hours was beschäfitgt order to punch out pieces of cardboard!)
The beseondere at stake is the atmosphere. This constant feeling of having to watch the other and to be observed. One can (and should) also blame others! Sometimes you may look at the so-called loyalty cards and others then also lie, tell the truth, etc. Everything is the atmosphere!
Send quiet as camouflaged Zylon (as president possible) a person to jail after they have convinced the other player, that he is a Cylon. A fun beyond compare!
Anyone who has "Shadows over Camelot" liked, will love this game. Because here the Verräterregel seems somehow appropriate. The checks skills fit seamlessly into the game.
