The Moto X is simply a very nice smartphone. The bamboo feels great and Moto stands out clearly from the black / white from competition. Unfortunately, the smooth back causes the phone tends to slip out of your hand when you hold it with only one.
The aluminum frame with the plastic strip looks classy and the highlights - the ring to the camera and speaker - look great.
The Moto X itself is in a for me (1,80m tall) still acceptable size, anything after that is just not good in the hand. Here are the Moto X, the edges around the screen left and right rather thin, so you will accommodate more screen in little device.
The display itself is a very high resolution and provides great color also represents the photos, which makes the camera are quite acceptable -. Even if the camera app from Motorola not ranreicht to Google.
Under the hood, the Moto X is equipped with the latest technology, which of course also noted during use. There are no stuttering or trailer noticeably and the smartphone starts extremely fast. The encryption of the phone does not cause any real slowdowns.
In the Moto X a customized Android, which fortunately is not too much different from the stock version runs (no ugly Touchwiz- or sense adjustments etc). Motorola, however, has added some nice enhancements. So you can start with the two-time rotation of the wrist the camera or see notifications with a hand whisk.
Unfortunately negative is Motorola's update policy. While US customers were happy within the promised 30-day deadline on the update on Lollipop, it took almost a month for German customers - and thus twice as long - longer. Also, the update brings some bugs with it (SIM card is not detected when the phone memory is encrypted, no new Exchange Services or original keyboard), which spoils the overall impression of the great Moto X.
Conclusion: Despite the small software weaknesses for me the best Android smartphone on the market. It has current software and hardware, a decent size and a reasonable price. And it looks great.
