The story is set before the period of the Trilogy of black jewels and tells the story of Jared, former warrior, become sex slave 18, who has sold the Grey Lady at a slave market. Deeply affected by years of servitude and torture by the obedience ring (sex ring used by the queens and witches the power to control men with more magical power to control that all the kingdoms) is troubled by the kindness of the queen of a certain age who takes away the ring and treats. With other slaves as marked as it, including a young Black Widow to disturbing powers, they will live a long journey to reach the kingdom of the Grey Lady who inspires so much distrust to the inhabitants of other realms. Their path will be full of betrayals and difficult challenges which will force him to choose between his freedom and honor.
I do not advise this book to teenagers (like the Trilogy black jewels) because some descriptions of torture or battles are a bit hard but fortunately there is not much.
As against the fact that the book speaks of obedience rings does not make a treaty on sex or a novel rose water: it is a fantasy epic with colorful characters where women continue to respect men are surrounded by valiant warriors protecting their lives. The magic, courage and honor are the intimate frame of this book.
