First book I read of Claude Tresmontant, this is the perfect book to taste the erudition of this remarkable theologian. In Saint Paul and the mystery of Christ Tresmontant is not limited to a simple biography, in the sense that he would be content to tell the life of this great Saint. Indeed, the author goes beyond the simple chronological history by taking the time to contextualize the mission of Saint Paul, Judaism, Israel, the Incarnation, the Roman Empire, etc. This is where you enjoy - if it is not already - the erudition of this exegete unusual.
I hesitated between the biography of Saint Paul Alain Decaux and that of Claude Tresmontant. I do not regret my choice. I started with this biography, I am now in my fifth book of this author.
Claude Tresmontant is a layman who was a professor of medieval philosophy at the Sorbonne. His mastery of Hebrew, Greek and Latin enables it to stick as close to the text and the intention of the authors and we revive the first and true meaning.
