So I received a nice green box and I could ride in 1 or 2 minutes a beautiful green broom. While the handle is telescopic. It is therefore not possible to accurately adjust the handle length. However, the handle is made up of 3 parts that are firmly clipped (over the handle and the blade itself). We can therefore use less and pay three and partially the length problem. The grip is excellent, the blade is very light.
I had the pleasant surprise of the box, to find a number of recommendations:
- Do not leave within reach of children.
- Do not use on surfaces that have received anti-reflective coating (eg plasma TV.)
According Swiffer, that broom is ideal for:
- Clean wood floors, tile or vinyl
- Clean inside wardrobes
- Clean under beds, tables and cabinets
- Wash the walls before painting
- Clean baseboards and shelves
- Clean the top of the refrigerator
It is, moreover, indicated that the brush can not be used on surfaces such as carpets and rugs, and that should not be a dry wipe passes over a wet location.
There are, for this brush, two types of wipes:
- The electro-static dry wipes that are really very effective dust or hair, the electrostatic effect perfectly playing his role. In addition, its pivoting head is extremely convenient to "catch" the dust where it is usually difficult: under furniture, including goshawks feet, and even on the walls (and here we appreciate its lightness). By cons, when you meet a crumb or gravel, the brush becomes totally ineffective. Similarly, if you have the misfortune to cross if only a few drops of liquid unhappy, more electro-static effect and any dust found on the floor. Note that it is useless to try to wash the dry wipes: by doing this, we remove their electrostatic effect and therefore all their qualities.
- Wet wipes (not to be confused with a dry wipe which can be anchored because the results in this case are rather disappointing) which are tiled floors and linoleum. Again, the result and very good, wipes featuring a band scraping to clean encrusted tasks.
With these two types of wipes (and indeed it would have been better if the brush delivered to testers be delivered with a dry cloth and a wet wipe dry wipes rather than 2, it could have changed the test results), we obtain d excellent results. Note that Swiffer seems to have corrected this error because, after the site Swiffer, the broom would now comes with 2 dry wipes and moist.
Some have highlighted the environmental problems related to the fact that the wipes are disposable. That is a good question but I do not have the answer:
- Wipe dry vacuum cleaner against: one would have to make a complete ecological balance between the nuisance associated with wipes and those related to the production of a vacuum, the use of electricity and recycling of the vacuum cleaner once that it no longer works.
- Wet wipe or mop against the "Spanish broom": again, the wet wipe is disposable. But when using a mop, the water is used to which is added household products, highly toxic. The whole is thrown into the mains drainage but will be discharged into a stream before being recycled in an often remote purification plant for many kilometers. Besides the manufacturing of household products is a huge source of pollution and their packaging, like wipes, must go through the waste.
So I would say, on this point, a ball across the center.
Criticism of prices wipes are well founded. I have not had time to see if there were generics that could adapt and be of the same quality.
In conclusion, I think everyone will find good reasons to use or not to use the broom. As for me, it will probably be occasional use, a more certain for me (baseboards, cobwebs, walls etc.) hence my rating of 3 *.
FYI, this is just the entry level Swiffer, other products, certainly more effective and more universal, exist in this brand.
