I had been an even more significant Yamaha amplifier (AX 592), but which - like so many of the series - was due to a defective rotary switch for almost 20 years for economic total loss. Due to the low price I was a bit skeptical about whether the S 201 can keep up with the high-AX 592, but must say that my fears were unfounded. On the contrary, I find in the CD and tuner playback quality even as something better. Error-prone potentiometers as the AX 592, there is practically no longer the S 201. Very commendable is the phono input, phono source is however reproduced relatively quiet, so you have to turn the volume up here. 2x100 W but offer enough reserve, so this is not a problem. Negative notices that the on-off switch does not make any network separation, but only switches to standby. That makes for an amplifier for me no sense at all. The answer is a switched outlet. ATTENTION! The amplifier is designed to operate with 2 boxes (E ntweder group A or group B), each with 8 Ohm or 4 boxes (group A + group B) with 16 (!) Ohm. So who owns commercial 8 ohm speakers, actually can not operate 4 boxes simultaneously. Who has boxes with 4 Ohm, not buying with the A-S201 really the appropriate amplifier. Amazon should take this information urgently in the product description! - Which leads me to 1 Star devaluation! ATTENTION! Figure NO has phono input - Who plays with the idea, instead of the amplifier A-S201 to buy the A-R201 receiver, at its Amazon should be aware that this LT.. Too bad that was the exclusion criterion for me.
