The name Blake Crouch, one should really remember. This was the first book by this author, I read - and I'm thrilled! Mr. Crouch manages from the first page, to draw the reader into the story. One puzzle with the hero Ethan, what's wrong with this picture-book pretty, original American town Wayward Pines, what is wrong with people, why so few cars are on the road, why he can not get in touch with the outside world. Ethan is a sympathetic protagonist - and, of course, war veteran - but certainly not a superhero, you can identify and sympathize with him and mithoffen. The end is similarly to expect from me, but nevertheless, very original and surprising, with several "Twists and Turns". The figures are well drafted and the language is also convinced. What more do you want? Intelligent, exciting entertainment with a somewhat retro charm, away from the eternal Swedish-American Psychothriller- / pathology / Serial Killer Allerlei. Conclusion: Recommended, just right for a cozy weekend on the couch.
