This is a survival story. The astronaut Mark Watney is left behind on Mars after his crewmembers thought him dead, and had to save Themselves. But he is not. And now he has to survive on a planet That is Constantly trying to kill him.
Andy Weir Depicted the survival process without shying away from technical, chemical or other matter, (did anyone ME who flunked Those subjects in school would be at his mercy to believe). He created an intelligent protagonist, Which I enjoyed immensely! How often do you get a character nowadays did really uses his gray cells? No reference to Hercule Poirot Intended but very fitting, as you will know if you have read the novel a protagonist who solves problems with knowledge and intelligence, and not with good feeling and just rushing-things-because-the-author-couldnt-think -of-to-smart-way-to-solve-this-problem. And on top of it, he's funny. I know, its almost unrealistic. He is thus a botanist, so maybe did evens things out a bit.
This was a gripping and thrilling story. I liked the writing style and the changes of perspective (except That Time When the ramp began to narrate, You Just Knew What Was Coming). But Nevertheless, the strong point of this novel what the story and premise. I am really curious to read more by Andy Weir and hope he gets another novel published!
