Excellent piece Feydeau, often repeated in the theater. This film adaptation is very faithful, in fact filmed theater, by Jean Renoir in 1931. Mr and Mrs Follavoine are very well interpreted by Jacques Louvigny and Marguerite Pierry, strong professional actors and well-known at the time. Michel Simon who plays Mr Fouilloux, official at the Ministry of War, made his number with his usual talent. As for Fernandel, he plays the so-called cousin (actually the lover) by Mrs Fouilloux, a small role on the border of figuration and at the end of the piece. The cover photograph is somewhat abusive and people who have purchased the film for Fernandel be disappointed. We forgive this small "exaggeration" to publishers of Fernandel Collection because without them the film would probably not have been re edited. A report another adaptation of the same play, conducted in 1979 for television, with Bernard Blier and Darrieux in the roles of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Seigner Follavoine and in the role of Mr. Fouilloux. We consider the adaptation of 1979 as higher than that of 1931. In fact, the role of Follavoine seems to have been tailor measures to Bernard Blier. And Darrieux is a huge actress when Marguerite Pierry was a very good actress Boulevard. As for Louis Seigner is Fouilloux as we imagine. But this version was never released on VHS or DVD. So if it ever happens again on television, your recorders!
