Technically and visually, a very sophisticated device

For weeks I was looking for a good sounding and compact 2.1 system with integrated Blu-Ray player. A few days ago I went to the new 7200 pushed Philps HTS and ordered it after some initial hesitation. As there was the time of my purchase either a Test a review and the other devices from Samsung, LG have in test reports poorly finished, I ordered as the sound system from Philips.

As the previous speaker following features were important to me:
Blu-Ray and DVD upscaling to 1080p
2.1 system, thus less cables and speakers throughout the room
Digital and analog connections
Optics and Sound Quality
Silent operation

First Impression:
After unpacking the once came to a 'wow' factor, since the device (also speaker) sees its aluminum-plastic dress very classy. The processing of the player and the speakers is unsurpassable. The speakers have a "decent" weight and are thus very safe on the glass foot. This is additionally provided in the middle with a black rubber protective coating against scratches on furniture surfaces. The subwoofer has a glossy plastic surface as the player. Conclusion: TOP optics of all devices and no plastic waste.

Second impression:
All necessary cables (incl. HDMI cable) are in place and make the device ready for use. The menu navigation is clear, however, set to English on delivery. The change in German only takes seconds and also the rest of the settings are made equal. The sensor fields on the device talk to without delay. The remote control is clearly arranged and intuitive to use. Although the player has a fan, you hear it only when you sit directly from the device. In normal seat pitch is that sound, even at quiet movie scenes, not to hear.

Image Quality:
To get the best image result is to use the HDMI port with the included cable unavoidable. Blu-Ray delivers as expected the best picture, but also the DVD upscaling function makes the image look equally good. Here you can get even with the "old" DVD a unsurpassable image result. By 24p function, there are no pesky Bildnachzieher or Bildruckler.

Very important: For Blu-Ray and DVD movies with video displays may 100Hz, 200Hz or more artifacts. In addition, the picture appears very plastic, thereby exerting unrealistic. Except for animated films I'd turn this feature on the flat screen TV. (This is TV-related and not due to the player)

Sound quality:
Through my hi-fi system, I am of course spoiled by the sound, but I wanted to see (hear) what's in the small device. So purely CDs that I've heard before on the Hifi and was amazingly surprised by the result. The classical and jazz CDs have a rich sound. Although the heights do not sound so powerful, but can nevertheless convince. The bass is too strong in the normal setting for both movies and music enjoyment. This I put on the bottom step, making it subtle and not so pushy. If you want to reduce the bass even more, it is recommended I cram a sock into the rear resonance tube.

The radio and the USB port I have not tested.

Conclusion:
The "small" system is characterized by its appearance and quality especially in image and sound. Even The included HDMI cable is sufficient for the Blu-ray and DVD movie experience completely. Incidentally, you do not need expensive HDMI cable. The make the picture any better. Expensive cables are usually shielded HDM several times and one should only use when operating potential sources of interference near the device. I would the device without ifs or buts recommend and buy again. I give one point less because the device (like most these days) can not be completely isolated from the electricity.
