Technically completely immature, usability disastrous

For 10 years, I use the previous versions of Pinnacle Studio Plus or Ultimate and was particularly enthusiastic about the simple and intuitive operation, and the liquid usability of the software.
Hoping for further product improvements I bought (6 months ago!) Version 16. Now the horror began.

The key finding: This is not a development of Version 15, but an entirely different product.

- Nothing is as it was before, you have to learn completely new operation

- Extremely deteriorated workflow, illogical sequences

- Unprecedented instability, crashes en masse from, constantly hanging and stuttering in the project work

- Senseless product supplement to a media management of the PC. One can not, as before, open the folder with a file to be processed, drag the file into the timeline and then get started. A file must only cumbersome "imported" and is thereby read lengthy.

- The worst-case scenario:
So far: I prefer the cursor in the timeline in any playback mode and quickly over the entire length. I let go of the cursor, the playback is instantaneous at this point. Fast jumping back and forth over the entire range of video submission no problem.

Now: just drag the cursor with the mouse, not going before. At the same time press button and drag the cursor with the mouse but goes: As you drag on the timeline, the software is not able to follow the process in real time. The entire sequence stutters considerably. The software would make seemingly permanently something, in Task Manager but not the least activity of Pinnacle can be seen. - Poor graphical interface, poorly recognizable grab for the mouse, poorly discernible buttons and bars that use the mouse is very difficult.

- You can no longer edit everything within the main window of the software, for each processing going on new window. Simply click in the window and a wolf.

- The project video image enhancements call> New Window. Call audio enhancements> again new window. Make changes, close the window to return to work on the main surface can.

- Very difficult to place and to use tools for video and audio editing.

- The mouse easy to use slider version 15 have all been converted into unbedienbare knob.

- Up to version 15 lane was available in the project (in the timeline) one that the picture and sound included. Nevertheless, you could edit the picture and sound separately by blocking the respective track. Is no longer now! You have to decouple from the video track, the audio track only, then you can edit the sound separately.

- The good equalizer from version 15, in which one could see the settings over the course of the slider is good, replaced by a couple of totally confusing and very poor dial controls.

- For a project to place a name. In all previous versions of this name was automatically generated file name of the file from the project. Now there is a stone-age function that accepts the project name only by hook and then even name.movie.dateiendung all letters in small format and with the compulsory supplement. One has nothing else to do, each rendered file again cumbersome rename as.

- For the creation of the file will be opened a new window by clicking here and wait for rendering. Previously: Open project file, the project will be displayed immediately in the timeline, it can be used throughout the project immediately.

Now: project opens, still has in the timeline each time be re-read, work not possible cursor depends, preview shows for some time on the last existing point from the already closed project. After endless waiting period then the preview from the current cursor position is in the current project. This applies to each open an already saved project.

The list could go on for a long time.

I've been trying for months considerable time to familiarize myself with the software and to discover the gruesome technical functions and illogical operating sequences. Conclusion: catastrophic software unusable. The recently released Service Pack has not changed! Do not try that one can even eventually get used to the software and put up with the errors.

With a lot of new time I worked myself into test versions of other providers and there tested usability and technical functionality. Remaining are two products that come in terms of functionality, scope of editing options and especially usability as successor to Pinnacle Studio Plus in question:

- Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12

o tidy interface
o Ease of operation
o Many image and Tonbearbeitungs Tools
o Very fast rendering
o No negatives found
o Reasonable price
o (more expensive version Platinum 12 Suite is not necessary)

- CyberLink PowerDirector 11 Ultra

o A little more sophisticated operation
o Extensive editing tools
o Advanced audio editing unfortunately only through the purchase of the expensive product Audio Director or in the much too expensive version PowerDirector 11 Ultimate Suite
o Significantly slower rendering than with Sony, but in time the same as the performance of Pinnacle Studio 15
o Higher price

Eliminated:

- Magix Video Deluxe 2013 Plus

o Too complex / confusing
o Rapid familiarization
o Partially illogical sequences
o Feature overkill

- Adobe Premiere

o Not tested, personal experience with other Adobe products
o Adobe's own operating philosophy, ultra-complex, that's not my world

I hope that I can hereby spare the one or other meaningless teller, unnerving horror and life wasting time with Pinnacle Studio 16. By the way: On my hardware not liegts, which is among others indicated with 64bit CPU and Octacore light years on the conditions of Pinnacle addition; Pinnacle Studio 15 and all other tested providers no problems.

My solution: no more money to spend, but continue to work with Pinnacle Studio 15.

Proposal to Pinnacle: Take the version 16, this completely throw in the trash. Then a version 17 as a direct evolution from version 15 offer (no "reinventions", only technical improvements) and I'll be back!
