The 3.5 Megapixel CMOS sensor provides a noisy image in photo mode and video mode is simply bad. The mini USB demonstrates the technological age of the device also. However, it works perfectly with an SDHC memory card 16 or 32 GB.
Now in practice, the unit works and I managed to catch a deer at sunset (without infrared LED) and another (or the same) at night and therefore I enclose infrared images. The trigger seems a bit slow but still enough.
In infrared mode, the LEDs are visible in red and the device will be easily spotted by a prospective way, careful not to be bitten on!
In video mode, the device has triggered twice in 72 hours, but without apparent regard to the image (of poor quality on max setting), I suspect a slow release.
Side autonomy, being certain not to arrive at the end of the 8 alkaline batteries provided during my tests, I put 4 NiMH batteries in place and these are almost full after 3 days trial. The device is actually low energy.
At the current price of 180, there are high-performance instruments (at least on paper) including video and full HD CMOS sensors up to 12 instead of the 3.5 Mpix offered here. I take off a star for the performance - price ratio and another because a lithium rechargeable battery should be able to be part of the package.
