I tried a lot of PLC products in the past but I always came home Devolo for its overall reliability. So I'm not saying it is top among Devolo and I've had disappointments with their products but say it is the brand with which I had the least worries.
My 70m² apartment wifi internet in my box located in the living room gets to run its course in the room and I had to find a solution. Repeaters are not powerful enough for my taste because they are too dependent on the received signal and if it is just weakling then the results are random. CPL wifi system is then very interesting because it allows you to bring the connection electrically to a room and then issue a new wifi signal from it. You then easily extend coverage of your wireless connection. Then simply set the same values as your WIFI internet box for example (SSID, channel, password) for it to be transparent in the whole house (so as not to have to change the network each time you change room ). You can also easily use the "clone" function so that the CPL WIFI taken automatically adopts the same parameters of the wireless network already in place.
With 1200+ WIFI ac I have a 450Mbps connection between the use of living and that of the chamber. My apartment has been renovated with a modern electrical installation. In all honesty I expected better: 700mbps was comfortable because I am fortunate to be bundle. Keep in mind that this new generation also uses the land taken to optimize performance so if you are lacking it may be advisable to invest in this version?
The CPL in themselves are quite aesthetically successful even if they are huge! In fact they are even bigger than the previous generation and that's a shame because for the little that you plug in the wall sockets near the complaints you will be forced to put them upside which is not very aesthetics especially if you connect them with ethernet jacks that leave the top. It is also noted that they have a tendency to be heated somewhat. Nothing alarming, but given the size of the catch is not expected to both heat dissipation.
For installation it is rather simple when everything works first time (which was my case). You plug them they spot them and synchronize. Then you can manage via software Devolo Cockpit (also consider making once the firmware update). The wireless part is managed through a web administration. Nothing complicated if you are accustomed to minimal setup a wireless connection.
For now the wifi connection is stable and quite efficient. But I prefer not to move me because this only a few days and CPL products tend to quickly show signs of weakness in time to reboot forcing them regularly. So I wait to see how will behave these new cases in the future.
In terms of positives we note the possibility of cutting the CPL diodes which may be more discreet in a room for example.
Review a CPL solution is always risky because your experience will depend mainly on your installation. You can have excellent performance as execrable a home to another. In short do not rely only on user feedback so the experiences will be different from one person to another. After it is also the advantage of going through a vendor such as Amazon which the return policy allows you to take the risk test.
To conclude I would say Devolo is still what is best in terms of PLC technology but remains a large margin for improvement in terms of case size, heaters, performance and overall reliability.
