The Count has always said that it is sad that some people have turned away from him, just because he is commercially successful and no longer fingernails painted black. To the music it should go ... And here I have to disagree with him, not only he has changed a lot, no his music! "City Lights" has as much to do with Unholy as Udo Jürgens with Rammstein.
And yet, I have ventured the risk and bought myself the new album "trailblazer". Why? Because I have, despite this very negative trend not forget the many happy hours which gave me the old albums and concerts. The music of Count has enriched my life and I can still remember the times when I have been to a concert in the (short) line to let me take pictures with the Count. Always friendly he signed my CDs and was for his fans to touch there.
But eventually my loyalty is exhausted. In view of "trailblazer" it's over it. There is exactly one song that I would identify as Unholy (like on the last album, since it was "Iron Man"). Except for "Gold Rush" is in virtually every song is a ballad or a heart-pain-I-would-you-low-touch test. Boar; That's a No Yes. Nothing against ballads or songs with no real climax! The Graf wrote in Vergangenheut class ballads. But this is a schmaltzy ballad album on lowest level. No lyrics with deeper meaning, not danceable, the voice of Count meaningless.
And "Gold Rush" would also be only a mediocre Unholy song from ancient times. And frankly, I believe that the Count has him composed some time ago and is now trying to enrich the album with old material. Listen sometimes to the samples of the old song "Crawl speed" to? The "Hey Hey" calls were simply in "Gold Rush" 1: 1 reused. Very suspicious.
Many artists at the age gradually have peaked. I think the Count can now write songs as they used more. The new album is in my opinion not even commercially, as this is an essential element missing. Rather, it is something to produce melodic desperate attempt with his last strength.
Please dear Count: No Comeback! Do the fond memories of the old days (which not so long ago are) not broken.
