Only it is so poorly coded that the installer will only list "Colonization Civ" on your desktop.
In fact, go find the executable files in the original folders (for Windows 7), then you can create yourself a shortcut for each game.
"Civ IV" (the basic game):
-> Find and launch "Civilization4.exe"
-> C: // Program Files (x86) / 2K Games / Firaxis Games / Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete /
"Civ IV Warlords" (ext 1)
-> Find and launch "Civ4Warlords.exe"
-> C: // Program Files (x86) / 2K Games / Firaxis Games / Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete / Warlords /
"Civ IV Beyond the Sword" (ext 2)
-> Find and launch "Civ4BeyondSword.exe"
-> C: // Program Files (x86) / 2K Games / Firaxis Games / Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete / Beyond the Sword /
"Colonization Civ"
-> Find and launch "Colonization.exe"
-> C: // Program Files (x86) / 2K Games / Firaxis Games / Sid Meier's Civilization IV Colonization /
This is regarding the "default installation".
Then, about the game itself:
Addictive, searched, researched, interesting, strategic, graphical way even slightly exceeded, music and sound effects correct (but soon after forbidding some whole parts)
But the black spot which screws up the gameplay (gameplay) and the life of the game (replay) in the air is:
- Victory static.
My God! Another poorly coded item. Personally, I am not expert in "statistical" but I approached it in such courses in high school Mathematics.
When you read "99.7% chance of winning," you go to battle with closed eyes ... Except ... at least 1 out of 10 times (sometimes 3 or 4 times on 10) you lose with ... "99.7% chance of victory" ... you know better where I'm coming from? At this price, I would have had to win 10 times the jackpot lotto !! Seriously, it's "caca". As much nothing to indicate to the player that misinform the so. Anecdote again, I had 4 statistically equivalent units (ie 77.7% chance of victory and 5-6% chance of decline) against enemy units stacked 2 identical. My 4 units to 77.7% win chance died. In short, I lost 2 fights with at least 77.7% chance of winning for each enemy unit. There, it was the pompom what, a big foutage of ... short.
The AI cheats to reach the level of difficulty chosen by the player is one thing. More trouble is, the higher the AI cheat by going faster to build facilities, buildings, military units. But then ... why with a little difficulty mode or not at all raised (so easy, like "Colon" or "tribal leader"), even when you lose four fights on 10 when victory was every statistic time 99.7%? I mean, four times out of 10 with 77.7% it can pass. In short, even in "easy" mode, the AI still can cheat with these statistics. ... But the worst is that you will have beautiful "save the party", "engage the duel", "lose your fight to 99.7% chance of winning," then "reload your game", you still lose. You know why? Because there is nothing random. Randomness is prétiré at the beginning of each turn. Which means that if you need to lose, you will lose whatever happens ... unless you put yourself to cheat a little to restore the statistical truth by putting exactly the same unit lost with the same skills and experience level ... and again! this is far from won!
In short, it is a good game but can fault statistic is for me a horrible poison that makes the horrifying game instead it is fun, exactly. Seriously, since when the computer is cheating to win at the expense of honest player? it's not fun ... well, it must be reading my review can be ... ^^
