My previous tripod is whether his age, still one of the best-selling tripods, one wants to believe Google; the 190XPROB. It is to enumerate the main features, very light and strong, but just to a certain extent.
Now the time had come to "upgrade" that camera and lenses are being grown. The 055XPROB is now my companion (my fourth tripod, and again become severe), with all its advantages and disadvantages. This I now want to bring something closer to you.
Let's start with the technical details, here compared to smaller 190XPROB in parentheses:
- Pushed together (pack size) 65.5 cm (57 cm)
- Max. Length with extended center column 178.5 cm (146 cm)
- Max. Working height with retracted center column 142 cm (122 cm)
- Minimum working height 10 cm (8.5 cm)
- Weight 2.4 kg (1.8 kg)
- Maximum Endurance 7 kg (5 kg)
You see already go some values very apart, while others remain very close together. For me, the noticeable stability was crucial. Tripod tests are fine and dandy, one for me, what happens if I shake up with hand turn. And that convinced me!
But the tripod itself was not the real reason why I switched; it was the tripod head. The ball head drove me mad with architectural photography. There was no precise composition possible. But that's the subject of my other review about the Getriebeneiger 405 Pro Digital.
The 055XPROB is otherwise absolutely identical compared to 190XPROB, therefore 1 applies, the review of the smaller tripod, with respect to the properties: 1.
So that you do not need to read further, I invent the wheel not new and gather a little text from the review 190XPROB:
[...] In order to increase anticipated, the special is the slightly different center column technology. It is not rigid and can be locked in a 90-degree angle. That's something special, it can still be as horizontal shooting to the ground. The graphical interface is very user-friendly. Only one button at the bottom of the center column has to be pressed and you can bring the center column in the horizontal position. Previously the central column must be solved by a thumbscrew. This allows you to scan for. B. Documents exactly parallel.
Without fixed central column but fall off the usual quest to stabilize the tripod legs. In order to be able to still locked tight, four locking positions for each leg can be adjusted individually. This, in conjunction with the usual adjustment possibilities, the three telescopic leg segments each leg, on the fast closing clamps, a very flexible tilting of the tripod. Two of the tripod legs also have padded shoulders, which allows even in cold temperatures a pleasant touch, without the aluminum to touch directly.
By individual suspension of the tripod legs also an extremely flat abduction is possible. So is the tripod at the maximum spread of the legs, only a total of about 10 cm high, which will delight any macro photographers - only in horizontal position of the center column.
As with any professional tripod you have to buy the head also. So one has no other choice, from a vast number of tripod heads, whether three-way Neiger, ball head etc. pick out the best. In addition, the tripod head can be fixed by three recessed from the bottom retaining screws.
The stand is made almost entirely of aluminum. "[...]
But the disadvantages are not to be overlooked. It's big and ugly. Two and a half kilos, headless; about half a kilo more than the 190'er. Very big in the extended state of the tripod legs. With tripod head and camera we are at the level of the viewfinder at about 160 cm.
Conclusion: It is a very sturdy tripod at a reasonable price for higher demands of ambitious photographers. An EOS 1D with attached 300mm 1: 2.8 L IS USM telephoto is not a problem, the Provided the tripod head with plays..
