Cat Stevens / Yusuf appealed to me with his music in my life very often. My favorite album is still "Mona Bone Jakon". In addition, all the important recordings by Cat Stevens and the albums as Yusuf are in my music collection. Now I have also gained the new album "Tell 'Em I'm Gone". Previously I had a feel of Amazon on the offered auditions. My first impression was confirmed after several Hördurchgängen for me. Cat Stevens / Yusuf has musically back and for my musical tastes developed high forward. Without having read in the enclosed and very tastefully decorated info booklet, I thought, that sounds totally after a produced by Rick Rubin CD. And lo and behold - Rick Rubin had his fingers actually involved. And from this cooperation benefits Cat Stevens / Yusuf's music clearly and audibly. The music affects me significantly reduced to the essentials. No popiger frippery. "Tell 'Em I'm Gone" sounds partly rocky and with a touch of blues. In particular, I was pleased to hear the cover of Procol Harum "The Devil Came From Kansas". The title song "Tell 'Em I'm Gone" appears Cat Stevens / Yusuf, as to lead to "An Other Cup" (The Beloved) musically different cultures together. My favorite song on the album, however, is "Doors". A wonderfully put forward ballad with a very nice and hopeful lyrics. "Tell 'Em I'm Gone" is my feeling after an album that fits perfectly to the dark season. I have truly never regretted the purchase.
