Musically Tuomas Holopainen and his colleagues systematically continuing its style, even though there are new musical influences on this album. Thus, in Creek Mary's blood many Indian influences to hear and the ten minute Ghost Love Score has such a large orchestra part, like no Nightwish piece. Especially this piece notice the preference for Holopainen to bombastic soundtracks. And so it is not surprising that several songs from the album were used as the soundtrack of various films.
Who now wonders whether Nightwish because are still a metal band can be reassured. Hits like Dark Chest of Wonders, WISH I HAD AN ANGEL or PLANET HILL provide impressive proof that Nightwish still can rock tidy. Overall, ONCE is a very worth listening station that offers symphonic metal at its best. Bombastic sounds, heavy riffs, catchy melodies. Nightwish have outdone themselves with this album even.
