Equipment
Like its big brother, the Force GT steering wheel has a leeway of 900 degree angle (2.5 turns like in a real car). The coating is rubber here (in true hand-stitched leather for G27) and measures 32 cm in diameter (28 cm for the other model) and includes a force feedback.
It connects via USB cable and requires external power supply. It is mandatory to install the Logitech Gaming Software program, downloadable online, otherwise the wheel will not be recognized by Windows. It is assumed immediately upon its connection to a Playstation 3.
The steering wheel and gear lever are part of the same block. The Force GT is not very heavy and moves very quickly.
Speed management (2 buttons for Action, "accelerate" and "slow") is accessed with the G27 where the box H can be confusing in a game arcade. The proximity of the lever driving is also a strength: it just takes off his right hand off the wheel to change gears.
Excellent feeling in arcade games. It is a real pleasure to drive, the whole is an exemplary flow, the steering wheel is very fun to drive.
We strongly recommend placing a fixed support (eg antidérapeant carpet) under the bottom bracket to prevent the latter from sliding forward by the movements of the foot.
In game
In a simulation game (Euro Truck Simulator 2): This is ultra realistic and comfort is fabulous and driving is a real pleasure. Unlike the top model, there is no clutch pedal and gearbox H on the Driving Force GT. We feel strongly that defect in this type of games.
The feeling of unevenness, collisions and road defects is excellent (especially in Need For Speed Most Wanted PS3).
The Logitech Gaming Software caliber carefully each configurable button and intensity of effects.
Disadvantages noise
The force feedback brings a strong touch of realism. Unfortunately tested in Euro Truck Simulator 2 (PC) or Need For Speed Most Wanted (PS3), it quickly becomes noisy and annoying (steering wheel shakes too much). During calibration, the flywheel makes several turns on itself and the generated noise is loud and irritating.
In addition, the physical shift generates a "click" particularly strong and irritating. Imagine a mouse click every time but 20 times more imposing.
Because of this noise, it is impossible to use this flying night on pain of waking his entourage. The logitech G27S him is very quiet.
I recommend the Logitech Driving Force GT wheel especially if you are looking for a type of driving "arcade" for your PS3 and PC. If you have the budget and you need a clutch and a gearbox true, then lean rather on the G27. In 2 cases they are excellent flying both. Shame about the noisy side at night.
