Attention Times of Grace is certainly a new project, but not a group of strangers. It is actually the project of two former Killswitch Engage, Adam Dutkiewicz (all instruments and vocals) and Jesse Leach (lead vocals). Note that Adam is also a renowned producer who has produced many albums in recent years (in the world of Metalcore Metalcore and Melodic). Adam wrote this album while he was immobilized, lying, because of severe back problems (hence the title). Stylistically, we found a lot of the sound of Killswitch Engage beginnings, but perhaps tinged with more grace (Times of Grace), emotion, melody short, not like this, and for me, although more successful. In some quiet moments, I find it a bit reminiscent of Linkin Park or even 30 Seconds To Mars, in those one finds a little edgy style Bullet for My Valentine, is tell you if the album is varied. It contains a number of impressive power tubes we would see in BO film or video games.
The piece of departure and first single, is a killer. The Strength In Numbers do not appear during the verse, but it has a memorable chorus, a pure foot. The guitar riffs are huge, the solo equally well seen (all somewhat reminiscent of Bullet For My Valentine), in short, an introduction which sellotape to your chair and makes you think that you fell on a nugget . Not really have time to get bored too much as the next track is double Kisscool effect. Fight For Life seems initially a little clumsy, with his big bass on the verse, but again the chorus is a marvel metal anthem, sung with a crazy emotion, the guitar riffs are superb. The two voices intertwine, howler and the singer give heart to joy, they are not happy and you can hear well. Frankly, one of the best pieces, impossible to get out of his head. On the next, Willing, there is an offset between singing rhythm and riffs, not just synchros, but ultimately it goes okay. The chorus is once again worked really well with a big guitar side job. There are some pieces that may seem very upset, as Love to Live In verse yelled, sang the chorus of huge riffs, with snare frantically hammered passages and many changes of rhythm. But as there is always a moment sang (and screamed), it goes very well for me. The same goes for the Hymn Of A Broken Man, with its passages like Linkin Park ballad genre, but with more evil times rather like Killswitch. It goes really well with the alternation of songs and tempo changes. The formula suits me greatly, because it combines the violence of metalcore and melody in the song. I love the intro of Hope Remains, cool guitar and double bass drum happens on the horizon. Enormous, probably one of the best songs on the album too. Annoyed at will, it screams, it pounding snare it hard crook, and then bam, the refrain sung in clear, melodious, amazing! Good guitar solos on double bass background.
There are also small tender hearts in musicians of Metalcore. Proof of Until The End of Day, where alternating melodic and atmospheric passages with series of demented screams. True calmer moments are the little acoustic song In The Arms of Mercy, the very cool guitar arpeggios, or that The Forgotten One, resembling a Bon Jovi / Sambora shaped acoustic guitar and chorus sang in two voices. Nice snook and a sacred beautiful contrast with the rest of the album. There are beautiful quiet passages and athmosphériques also on The End of Eternity, again they alternate with times of heavy, dark and yelled. Should it do so, must decipher, only to find the wave of emotion that give off the pieces of this album. Finally, the song that closes the album, Fall from Grace, is a concentrate of emotion, grace super quiet intro and big riffs, for a kind of power ballad.
In the end, I cracked on this album, I admit. I listened loop in my car, he put fried, hate, tears in his eyes, made me stomp, shake his head, short pass from great moments. This is an album of Metalcore certainly, but it is an original album, varied and full of emotion, the compositions are an incredible level and impeccable production. I discovered this evening by reading the final list of the groups they Hellfest will be with a live band complemented by Joel Stroetzel, guitar and former Killswitch Engage (decidedly, he remains in Killswitch Engage?), Daniel Struble (ex Five Point O) on bass and Dan Gluszak (ex- Envy on the Coast) on drums. You know where to find me that day ...
