The game can be experienced from the perspective of Marty and must, as is so common in Adventures, explore the surroundings, solve puzzles, search for objects and engage in dialogue and what is less common in this genre, also sometimes perform dexterity tasks.
The action ... is a continuation of the films, that is, it starts at the end of the third film. It begins with the fact that Marty's father Doc Browns sold things because the Doc is no longer come back to his old house. In old memories reveling Marty looks straight through things because emerges once the DeLorean time machine again, the people thought that they had been destroyed irretrievably at the end of the third film. But it just sits Docs dog Einstein in order ... an adventure that performs various unknown past eras Hill Valley and even an alternate 1985 begins (the 'present' in the films).
The action is a particular strength of the game, because it continues the films useful and overall not too contrived. Bob Gale, the (co-) author and co-producer of the film, the team at Telltale for action as a consultant stood aside. The plot, I find a few exceptions, successful and plausible with beautiful unforeseen twists and many parallels to the movies that delight the fan's heart.
The atmosphere ... I liked it very much because it is very close to the films as a whole. The action takes place like in the movies in town Hill Valley, which is good recognizable. There come some popular places before, most notably the city center with the town hall, as well as Marty's home 1985 Docs laboratory from 1985 and the School of Hill Valley. The atmosphere is depending on the situation sometimes exciting, funny or dramatic, but overall less serious than in the movies. Contributing to the comic-like look of the characters and environment.
A large proportion of the atmosphere makes the voice output. In the game you can choose between English and German language edition. If you choose the English spoken, so you can Doc and Marty's girlfriend Jennifer from the original actors (Christopher Lloyd and Claudia Wells) listen. For Marty even someone was cast (AJ LoCascio) who in the movies so amazingly well can imitate the voice of Michael J. Fox that it is almost indistinguishable from the original.
In the German language edition has not given so much trouble and does not use the original voices. The atmosphere is accordingly not as good as in the English version. In addition, there are here and there little successful translations of English dialogues. Therefore, I recommend to anyone who command of English is (you can also switch subtitle), select the English language. I think it's great that the game contains both languages!
Here and there, especially in key scenes, the original film music is used, but overall not as often as I would have liked that.
The graphics are ... as mentioned, kept in cute cartoon style and a total of more easily. Here and there, more details would have been possible. I suppose that you wanted to address the widest possible clientele and therefore entered into a compromise between the lowest possible minimum standards and good graphics. But the game itself runs on a five year old laptop relatively well, albeit with the lowest graphics quality (1,7 GHz, 1.25 GB of RAM, integrated graphics).
The difficulty was ... probably just like the graphics selected so that you can reach a wide audience. The puzzles are often very simple and straight forward, especially if you've played already often Adventures. Often to survey quickly, as a mystery to be solved. Only rarely have I felt really challenged me a riddle. Boredom did not come to this, because the puzzles are well integrated into the action. Needless I found the occasional skill tasks that annoyed me more than that they were fun.
Overall ... bother me as a fan of the movies, the weaknesses of the game hardly because I enjoyed it, dive into the world of Marty and the Doc. For me, the atmosphere and most importantly this is simply done! So I recommend especially fans the game. All others can be found in Back to the Future-The game an entertaining, well-made adventure with easier difficulty. The ratio of price to playing time, I find the way, very good!
