After colossal previous album you could make as Tocotronic fan just asked: "how do you still beat ??" Well, good question. After the music critic of course again let go of praise about "How do we want to live," the magnum opus has stayed with the fans is no longer so high in rank. Overly intellectual discourse Rock? And then with psychedlischen sound gimmicks? No, that was then but a little too much for many a fan, especially since the music world in the meantime, has also devoted many other genres. Tocotronic were therefore at an impasse. How come? With an audacious leap forward! The Red Album is a turning point in the band's chronology, a renewed upheaval, a new chapter. The songs take on a much more accessible, easier to open. It has missed the album a modern, but comfortable ausgewogennen sound. It occurs for the first time electronic sounds. The electric guitars are here no longer a supporting element of the songs, but are more likely to be icing on the tops of the composition. ("Prologue", "The adults") In addition, some of the songs are dominated more by acoustic guitars. ("Solidarity", "sugar"), and, surprisingly, dominate January miller absolutely brilliant bass lines and Arne chiding drums some of the songs ("Chaos" "You're wrong"). This novel Viefalt are the plate the necessary spice and excitement. Ultimately, there are also the typical catchy Toco songs as they already know and love, with "Rebel Boy" is the best song of the record for me. Just a really nice composition, a good candidate for the next single. The only thing that remains as inaccessible, are Dirks lyrics, with even these are easier to understand on this album. All in all acts The Red Album fresh, modern and entertaining at the same time, the band remains true. The balancing act in modernity is like a little TLC, the band needed, without however disappoint fans of the 2000s. Conclusion: More than succeeded! :)
