But never was a game overwhelm me like The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time.
No other game has ever produced such a wonderful atmosphere, no other game has ever felt so much for adventure, no other game has ever with so simple means so interesting, erkundenswerte, more vivid (!) And somehow .. animated world produced. Even the most remote corners in this game is bubbling with atmosphere, uniqueness and attention to detail.
But these are by no means all qualities.
Despite his proud age of 13 years, soon this masterpiece has playfully hide in any way before modern titles. The controls are easy and catchy, perfectly thought out and perfectly executed, even better than in various successors. The puzzles are varied and creative, sometimes demanding, but never frustrating.
The integration of Ocarina is one of the many great strengths of this title. Instead of a boring card with items on which you can just teleport so (yes, I'm talking about, inter alia, of Twilight Princess), to play songs on the ocarina, which bring one to the respective temples. The anthem of the sun allowed to the sun rise or set, the Song of Storms triggers a cloudburst and Zelda's Lullaby shows that you are traveling on behalf of the Princess - great!
Which brings me to another major strength: the soundtrack.
There are games with a catchy background music, sure, but there is no other game whose music myself for over ten years is still in memory. Even the most casual melody is a masterpiece, every note, every sound is unique and has been etched in my memory. I can even remember the sound when you move the inventory to another page (for example, on the ungaublich beautiful and lovingly detailed map). Or the cursor sound inventory. Or the sound, if you load the saved game confirmed ... What other game can claim to have such a thoroughly great soundtrack?
And the sheer amount of things that you can do from the main story! , Catch chickens archery on horseback (riding!) Or in the shooting gallery, Miracle pea plants (and seven years later as floating platforms use to gain access to secret spots), race against a dead gravedigger, can forge a great sword (a long, varied Quest series!), fishing, horse racing ... Hyrule is to bursting with opportunities, away from the main story to kill time.
And last but not least the story, it is that makes this game so special. On the surface they may seem flat and uninteresting. Villain kidnapped princess, hero saves Princess, peace-joy-pancake.
Only in the details it is unique. All the backgrounds, the role of Ocarina of Time, by Sheik and the ways of Dekubaums who Sheikah. Everything has its place in this unique world, there is simply no stopgap that has been added, just to have more content.
The characters all have a distinctive personality, a soul (something she differs considerably from the vast majority of modern NPCs), everyone has his part in the story and nobody seems interchangeable or out of place, even though figures like Rauru or Impa occur rarely. Even the normal NPCs who stand around in the area and give any one-liners of themselves, have their own personality.
I could write for hours about this until today unattained milestone of video game history, but a game like The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time you just can not put into words. One must even have experienced in order to understand it.
If ever a game has the name "Legend" deserved, then this. It is a monument of the game story, a monument that Shigeru Miyamoto and his team has immortalized.
It is no less than the best game of all time.
