Unboxing:
A simple cardboard without huge advertising promises as mans knows from other manufacturers. After opening the left is the mobile phone, the tablet is hidden under another board. Bottom cell phone are still the charger and a USB cable. Bottom Tablet are brief instructions that make their name and a small part to open the SIM slot and rauszunehmen a possibly SD card.
The included headset is really great. The sound convinced me fully, so my actual headphones will disappear in the drawer.

Mobile Phone:
At first glance it looks really fantastic: The entire front is made of glass and is very elegant. The back is made of bluish gray aluminum with a brushed appearance and also looks absolutely class. Camera and flash, as well as logo and a design bar are the only abnormalities in the back.
The sides are also made of aluminum, is only the top and bottom plastic, but this struck me very late, because here the true value.
The feel is good; Nothing is loose, it fits comfortably in your hand and is not too heavy.
When you first start comes the typical Android device and which already stands out even here: The display is really great. One can see not a single pixel.
Now directly to the software: Android 4.2.2 preinstalled, 4.4 is, according to Asus this quarter already come (even for the Padfone 2).
The launcher appears to be an original creation, with which I have some problems. More on that later.
The camera app from Asus is very extensive, so there is the possibility to use HDR directly when taking pictures or create GIFs directly. In video mode, time-lapse and slow motion are possible that look quite well.
The flash consists of 5 LEDs that are really very bright. For dark rooms really good, there is lacking, as with all LED flashes to reach.
The quality of the photos is good, not great, but for what I'm doing at pictures more than adequate. The videos act at least on the phone screen really well, encouraging PC monitor 21.5 "then you see the weaknesses.
The sound is rather hollow, but not creaks. For a cell phone, it is more than ok.
A video editing program is installed, but can not cut out a lot.
In the settings everything is Android-typically, only one menu item was added by Asus. There is about the interplay between the dock and mobile phone and you can change the settings in the Quick Benachrchtigungsleiste. A Fast Bootup option does what its name suggests, for the phone is not completely out (similar to the Windows standby mode). What surprised me most was that you do not need to enter the PIN when it starts up in fast bootup. Without lock code a risky thing.
USB OTG, so connecting a USB stick or similar is possible via an adapter and even supports NTFS disks.

Power:
It just jerky nothing. More can not be said. Since I did not benchmark-tail comparison, it remains in this personal point of view.
The Snapdragon 800 with 4x 2.2 Ghz. Real incredibly fast and the 2 GB of RAM is more than enough.
It is good that a Ardeno 600 GPU is built, the burden reduced graphically elaborate apps or videos the CPU. Even FullHD video with high bitrate run without even a stuttering.
The battery is not huge with 2400mAh, but still holds long. With me he has survived two days and could be described as me power users.
Where we are grad Battery: Charging with phone off not there. When the phone is switched off and connecting it to the shutter moves it up normally. A separate charge mode (like my Xperia S had him) does not exist.

Negative thing I've noticed so far:
The number of Homesrceens is 5. No more, no less. This can not be changed, unfortunately.
In the App Launcher can be sorted only by Az or vice versa. Sort itself also does not work out.
But Launcher are replaceable, fortunately.
Preinstalled is some what as always no need to uninstall can be only half. Kindly, you can hide apps at a glance, so you do not annoy at least visually.
On its own music player waived Asus and installed in front of Google Play Music. I miss my Walkman player from the Xperia S something.
A speaker at the right edge of the phone is not really useful. He does not sound bad, but he can not inspire. After all, the volume is ok.
A protective film is indeed appropriate, but not clean with Knibbelecke. So you go quickly. A replacement of decent films is essential (for me). (The same is true for the tablet)
And what bothers me the most so far: There's no notification LED. So you always have to be seen to enable obs something new is the display. In my Xperia S I had flashing green for WhatsApp, blue for Facebook, white for SMS etc. So I knew what was right without the cell phone really unlock.

Now to the Tablet Dock (without mobile):
10.1 "Full HD display, a webcam, LEDs for the state of charge (nothing else), a 5000mAh battery that's it. Without mobile phone basically useless.
Look and Feel:
The front is fully glazed, the border around the screen is quite lush, because you could have some space-saving work.
The back is made of plastic but does not feel cheap at (as opposed to all of Samsung).
The weight is even with mobile phone in order. One can thus work longer without lame arms get.
The dock for the mobile phone stands out in the center significantly, but does not bother when you hold it in your hand. If it is shaking the whole story around a little.
Unfortunately, the Tab has only one right speaker. Stereo speakers and front-placed would have been nice.
The tablet is charged through a Micro-USB jack and actually responds only to the power adapter supplied. The reason is simple: The input voltage is 2 amps at 10 watts. In Earnest! Even USB3.0 delivers only 0.9 amps. Another power supply with 1.2 Ampere wanted the tab either.

Now for the interesting part: The union of Dock and mobile
From the idea: phone + Tablet Dock =
In reality: mobile + Dock = Tablet with huge battery
It lets the phone in the dock slide on the back and after about half an second one has a tablet.
The mobile phone also holds good at it. Even strong shaking it can not slip out.
Here you have to really watch out but that the dock is clean. A large grain of dust or a grain of sand would scratch the phone display immense.
What direct positive notice: mobile phones and tablets have independent homescreens. Links from the mobile phone do not appear here.
Why do I think that's good? In mobile I have all 4 shortcuts on the homescreen. The tablet can be much more accommodating than on the phone. If you were to fully pave the whole tablet screen and the mobile phone take out, where should the links because all go?
In Asus menu there is the possibility to use the the Tabs Battery different: Battery pack (tab does not go directly if mans reinsteckt mobile), smart (bring the longest maturity as a tablet out) and Fone-priority (Tablet battery charges the phone battery -> less time than Tab).
Unfortunately, most apps support "dynamic display change" is not so that they are closed. But a pop-up notification (can be disabled) provides an on the restart these apps.
The display of the tablet just as convinced that the mobile phone. The quality is really great.
Where we are in degree Quality: Whatever the reason takes the phone camera when it is in tablet only images with 5.5 megapixels instead of the full 13. One reason I can not think. Is really a pity.
The loudspeaker on the back sounds ok, but the sound is distorted when the tablet is. But the volume is ok again.
Since the overall performance of the phone comes there is no need yet to be capitalized what to. Just In Time: The Performance Tab is like without Tab.

Conclusion:
I am thrilled genuine. Not only is it convenient that you have to maintain only one device (contacts, music etc), but it works just as well as they had hoped.
It has a high-end smartphone and a high-end tablet in one. Priced, it is also perfectly ok. All times cheaper than buying both separately. Only Nexus 5 (from 349) + Nexus 10 (from 399) together cost about the same as the Padfone (685 for me).
The performance is simply mistaken, the feel and look completely convincing. Although a few small things disturb, but nothing serious.
Asus has really created something innovative here and drives it better than me. A shame that so few know it.
