And now the third album. Had the band again warmed the sound of the first two pieces of silver, I would have probably not be able to get into it, because what was totally innovative at the time, would only absurd today. Instead, there is something quite different, and each song has a completely different Also atmosphere held together by the distinctive voice of Beth Gibbons.
Sometimes I think, to hear sounds like Nine Inch Nails, it is again epic as film music, just so the next song a hint of the Doors or Velvet Underground organ takes command. All in all, a very exciting journey of discovery!
I have now heard the album several times, and every time "Thrid" a bit deeper effect, reveal new facets of my songs. Sure, that's no party music that you can just casually listen to me, this album will be worked out. But it was ultimately what was expected of inclined fan of Protishead, right?
Conclusion: For me Portishead have not failed with "Third" of their own big names. The whole thing has nothing to do with a commercially sophisticated comeback, but I have the impression that people make music that currently really just expressing their feelings. That this apparently is another than in the mid-90s, is understandable and a good thing!
