Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag - [Xbox One] (Video Game)

Customer Review

My review is from the single player mode, the online games I do not think much, maybe I'm to a born in the seventies man too old. In addition, I see console for portability and you already like to play once to several of internet connection free places.

When I write "the best ever" AC I refer the new Unity Express with a; both games were included in a bundle with the console. I rarely play a game more than once, this I have just finished the second time. After already fantastic predecessor (AC III for Xbox 360, see also my review relevant), it had 2013 first successor, so Black Flag for 360s console be. Here the game was great, but you could tell but that the old generation came with such elaborate game to its limits. This is parked at the One version (no jerking, fast loading times), but you can tell the game to its base; it was only implemented on the new system, while graphically pimped something (with details such as moving in the wind bushes, gun smoke clouds the firing of guns, beautiful effects when spouting water at the ship, etc.). That does play well and the graphics look a little fresher, but the game lives rather versatility and its great possibilities off the main mission as the graphics. That is sufficiently good, even if they can not exist in a direct comparison with Unity.
Generally combines Black Flag all the good aspects from its predecessor (hunting, on marine animals, missions by ship are essential diving for treasure, a general Abwechlsungsreichtum and a very large game world) and locates the place of action in the Caribbean of the early 18th century. The wedding of piracy is just past that previously the privateering supportive states, led by the British, trying to protect their own economic interests, precisely to stop this, now perceived as piracy Kapertreiben. Against this background, it assumes the role of luck knight Edward Kenway, who ...

... At the end of the game turns out to be the biological father of the played at the beginning character in Assassin's Creed III. An interesting reference back, I think.

SPOILER END

Just like the interweaving of actual actors, places, and events, as well as ship types and forms of society (the Nassauer "pirate republic" as the first quasi-welfare state social contract). During the marriage of Caribbean piracy, not least Blackbeard, the yes is also found in the trailer Absolute historical accuracy, I would not want to completely attest, I have the facts but not even looked up, however, names and events covered already to a certain extent with known historically documented facts and figures. In this respect, a nice aspect and one would also not expect too much from a game. For a brief but solid overview of the historical context gives the game but, just as the previous parts on the respective ihren- it can be so tender and the young, so this is old enough. Bloodshed is the game as the story itself, at least not.

Always surprised that the series has its own flexibility of the concept of the embedded narrative, so the story of an assassin at any time in world history that is "seen" by a character in a higher-level history in the Animus. This is now a software developer at Abstergo (Templar Animuszentrale in which they look for clues from the memoirs of departed ancestors), the predecessor to Desmond's death in AC III. This element creates the possibility of a time other localization in numerous epochs for each part. So the history of the Assassins and Templars is updated again and again, fighting each other since the dawn of time. Also interesting is the blurring of the boundaries between "good" and "evil", which sometimes Templars, Assassins sometimes occur as the benevolent guardians of humanity. This was also found in the previous games and brings an interesting ambivalence with it. As you can hear, playing in the final part of the old generation of consoles (Rogue) and not assassins, but slips into the role of a Templers- an implementation of this Title on next-gen is urgently required!
Unfortunately, worry just the breaks of the (embedded) game through this overarching story with me again and again for anger. If you look just beautiful "recorded" and is recessed in the Caribbean story, you land on once again at Abstergo, the developer of the animus in this day and age. In this part, this is but fortunately something rare (although that may just be my imagination), as in the last game.

Not quite as supporting as in previous parts is also the role of the strange very first people technically superior alien, probably the first intelligent beings populated the world in the game world 80,000 years ago and can be recognized by their name from the various pantheons of the ancient world. His survivor achievements have so far always been a bone of contention between the Templars and the Assassins and since Black Flag is no exception. However, this aspect seems this time less influential. This also makes the end of the game, where you will not end up the main mission simply "left" just after the usual, I call once "gods scene" is, but at what Edwards story continues spanned still a small piece. Do not you conciliatory, the ends have the predecessor always a little ruined.

The gameplay is reminiscent of the predecessor, as always, the key assignment was changed somewhat, but not noticeable after a while. On the whole, the system remains true to its predecessor, a third-person action-adventure course one could perhaps call. Since I am not an absolute professional games, please forgive me if I expressions wrong here, I'm interested in playing the story mostly over effects and operation. Main and other missions can done secretly or offensive werden- quasi sneaking versus battles. Is it behind a wholly owned points modest result here, you creeps but probably better in the majority of cases. Naval running course "scary", but very effective from. Character and ship are easy to control and after a few upgrades you have soon no opponents fear more. In some missions, particularly when targeted jumping, the camera angle is somewhat ill-chosen and not quite as good control, but all too often occurs not on thankfully.

Incomprehensible seems to me why a significant part of the side missions of the game, namely the maritime trade ("Kenways fleet"; a similar trade, via land but at least, it had already in the third part, but he was offline playable) only is playable online. This part is more of a strategic element, the ships maneuvered to not directly but sends them to travel or communicate them to a battle, which they then perform independently; part so that one ausficht only largely passive to secure the trade routes and then to ride piece by piece. This works by inserting before the game actively hijacked ships and on rewards free, brings collectibles for their own pirates and also generated, just beginning the necessary cash. Just because friends can be here assistieren- and be assisted to terminate all part offline, I think is very questionable. However, that was already in the 360s version so it does not make them better this part of the game for offliners to embezzle.

Building a private hiding place no longer has as much complexity as its predecessor, you buy only certain buildings and that was it. The benefit of this is kept within narrow limits, but gobble, especially at the beginning, large amounts of monetary averaged either the could have also achieved somewhat better.

Nevertheless, a total of a lot of light in the form of fun, the beautiful and interesting history, as well as some variety and little shade in the form of the Nicklichkeiten described above, probably built to draw people to the Uplay server. Maybe I play it even a third painting full marks.
