Given that I've never had an injury, like above, I can not be sure, however, that this will never happen again in the future, I was looking for something less expensive. I never work at night without lights in the room, apart from the monitor is so bright that the keyboard is illuminated with even and I type in any case almost blind. So I can therefore also refrain from lighting. When rescue attempt of the Illuminated Keyboard, I noticed that quite a bit has set to hair and dust in the range of, and under the keys over time despite cleanings.
So my requirements:
- Cost-effective
- Separate keys for which no dirt can fall into the interstices
- Quiet
- "Blind" usable, even without 10-finger system
- Mute switch button
- Palm Rest
All these requirements are met the K280e!
At first I was undecided whether I should grab the K290 or K280e. According to my research, the K290 is different in price, color and the inverse of the F-key function, which could be but also deactivated via the software.
I hate clacking keyboards. Compared to the Illuminated Keyboard, the keyboard - subjectively - equal quiet. Only the tone is different in that the K280e has a "richer" sound when pressed (in contrast to the brighter sounding Illuminated Keyboard). However, I believe that the key bit (very little) are harder to press. The width of the keyboard is exactly the same Illuminated why no familiarization is necessary here.
For the characteristics of the keys: They are neither convex nor concave - they are flat. The letters are - as this is done for decades - glued and bright white. I just sit in semi-darkness and she can still recognize excellent. The blue symbols on the function keys, however, can be recognized in these bad light conditions.
The two fold-out feet are killing the keyboard for me in the correct angle. If you do not "to jerk" the keyboard there is the disadvantage that the palm rest is about 7mm front over the table edge, which I personally find uncomfortable with my long hands (motorbike gloves size XXL). If the keyboard "jacked up" is to reduce the distance to a comfortable 4mm. When writing is my right hand palm completely on the palm rest. In his left hand, this is only the case if it rests just.
All in all, this is the "aufgeräumteste keyboard", which I had so far. It meets all my needs and will accompany me safely over the coming years. If there should still be problems (eg with wear and tear etc.) I will this grudge here.
For anyone looking for a keyboard with the requirements of me above that can access here safely.
Those who want the same softly tap with lighting, grab the 50th EUR expensive Illuminated Keyboard.
Addendum 20.05.2015:
After almost a year to date daily use the keyboard still looks like new. No signs of wear (I'm Non smoking with always clean hands) are recognizable to).
Meanwhile, there was a small incident with sugary splashing in the area of the arrow keys and the right Ctrl key. I have these buttons wiped superficially and then expanded by I have drawn down with a flat screwdriver. Then there would be seen a sort of tub, which contained only a few drops, which I could then removed with cotton swab easily.
Interestingly, the single (larger) keys are stored on steel bracket, which are greased in order not to cause abrasion to the plastic.
Meanwhile, I have even more family members with the keyboard - also came from there so far no complaints.
