Sony Vaio SVE1712L1EW.G4

Good and packed safely hit the stylishly designed white notebook in early December 2012 with me. Commissioning
was easy to use and was swift. Existing wireless networks were immediately detected and displayed. After entering my key I was with the Sony Vaio line. With the settings of the computer, I have not chosen the fast Express version because I wanted to know and decide which data is occasionally transmitted to Microsoft.
The establishment of pre-installed McAffee I skipped this and later uninstalled, because I use a different antivirus program, which was then installed as the very first.
The operating system Windows 8
As my Sony Vaio notebook to date with Windows 8 is stable and after switching much faster ready than my Lenovo laptop with Windows 7, bothered me at first there really only the complexity of the tile surface.
The user interface with the tiles is, let's say, getting used to. With Classic Shell imagined my network administrator, who this notebook helped me with the commissioning for the installation of my software and the integration of the notebook in my network to the side, with astonishing speed the already familiar Windows 7 interface (with Start button) ago and I already had no overview problems.
Same time, I can also easily switch to Windows 8 surface to whenever I have some time, slowly but surely making me so familiar. Maybe I find it one day even be pleasant.
WIFI
On the internet I was with any notebook previously as fast as this. A LAN cable I have for testing purposes only times appended to see whether there is a difference in connection speed. I could not tell!
Programs
From the pre-installed programs, I feel the Vaio Care Center's very important. My network administrator made me at first a disk for a possible restore. Meanwhile, the computers no more CDs will be yes. In the games I miss honestly the simple card games like solitaire and Windows Spider Solitaire. This WildTangetGames I can not befriend me so far. As mentioned earlier, I am not the computer player, but as a small card game for in between Well, I'll live. Otherwise, it was no problem my purchase software (eg. As Adobe Photoshop 6.0, Microsoft Office 2007, Star Money 8.0 and Corel Draw X4) to install. All programs run perfectly so far.
Apps
The Sony Vaio many apps are preinstalled. I do not know if I'll ever need this, since 7 surface for work, I have the Windows again, it does not bother me, and maybe there is but one way or another, with which I will make friends in the course of time. The Spielmatz I'm terrible.
Update March 2013: In the meantime I have the app with the solitaire card games found and can do every now and then a game. However, I lack some setup options that I had earlier in the Windows card game programs.
Display
The size of the display so fascinated me from the beginning. Even sharpness and contrast can be seen. However, in a bright environment it is reflected in dark screen backgrounds and from odd angles colors appear distorted. The former has but on the work of the most frequently used programs (Word and Excel) with bright backgrounds no extremely disturbing extent and latter I had yet to find fault with all my notebooks.
The display of this device does not have a touchscreen. Likewise, the Imagination Studio software is not installed (but could be downloaded) and the keyboard of this device has no backlight.
The first part of the product description on Amazon generally describes the Sony Vaio E1712 series. While it is repeatedly pointed out that feature select models various facilities, but that is my opinion for consumers quite misleading. If I want to read in a particular model, what it can do anything, I want to actually, first of all the information on this device. The comparison table is of course very useful for the purchase decision, but belongs in my opinion, behind the information on the actual product. Nevertheless, I find the
Keyboard
This equipment terrific and for me is a backlight is not important. It is relatively wide and has an extra-number field. I can write to you any problems with 10 fingers texts. The keyboards of my previous notebooks were for me always a bit too tight. For lists with many figures the number field is a must with me. This Sony Vaio is my first notebook to which I need to connect a separate keyboard from the Home Office.
The touchpad
I use even extremely reluctant, so I have reconnected a USB Mouse also this notebook immediately. This was immediately recognized and I can work as usual. My network administrator, I always admire for his rapid handling of touchpads on laptops, criticized here the lack of visual separation between left and right mouse button.
DVD drive
When the software installation CD, the high noise levels of this drive struck me uncomfortable. Even while looking DVDs, the sound, the noise of the fan drive at first not quite cover, but you get used to in the course of each film so the fact that they take no longer true.
Fan noise
Very often, while relatively loud jumps to the fan. There is still happened not once that the device has been hot. Earlier laptops of mine whose fan while running much quieter, were after a few hours working on it pretty warm. At first I found the fan noise as very annoying. Meanwhile, I have so used to it that I take hardly notice.
Speaker
The sound of the Sony Vaio is definitely not comparable with a hi-fi, but I can notice a difference back to the previously used by me devices. If you get used to the noise of the fan and learned hide this, the sound of movies on DVDs or videos on Youtube is certainly not unpleasant.
Rapid Wake
If I zuklappe the display of my notebook, he lies down as I'm used to sleeping by the other already used notebooks. I am thrilled with this Sony Vaio but how quickly he then wakes when you open again, and I can right there to pick up where I left off.
Battery life
I have the battery several times now fully charged and then almost completely emptied. Meanwhile, the battery lasts about 3 1/2 hours, what I feel at this screen size than superior performance.
For Skyper is perhaps worth mentioning that this Sony Vaio via an
Web cam
features. I myself have indeed briefly played a bit with it and seen doing that pretty well what happened transfers before the notebook in normal daylight, but I see in my work and surfing habits for me personally not need and can not objectively the quality lack comparative way estimate.
Conclusion
All in all I am very satisfied with this Sony Vaio notebook. The much faster operational readiness and the fast Internet connection can see largely ignored me of the noise of the DVD drive and the fan. Considering the complexity of the Windows 8 interface not like, you can adjust the user interface with little effort on the Windows 7 look. For me, the Sony Vaio SVE1712L1EW.G4 is a powerful device with which I work excellently in the office area and with which I can surf the Internet quickly and conveniently. If it turns out quirks over the years, I will complete this review. For now there is me 4 star rating and a recommendation.
