The return of Barney

Barney Wilen's career is unique. Extraordinary debut, accompanying Miles Davis or Art Blakey, albums leader Tilt Vogue, Jazz sur Seine at Philips then a long or endless journey through the desert (literally and figuratively) punctuated with disparate records.
In 1986, Barney Wilen stumbles across a comic strongly inspired his debut "Barney and the blue note" (published by Casterman).
This disc is the 'music' of comics, each title corresponding to a chapter of the book.

The CD release in 1987 will totally revive Barney career that in 10 years will record more albums than the previous 30 years.

This CD, like all other records that follow, mainly French and Japanese, are exciting. They alternate standard (his favorite theme is Besame mucho), original compositions and music that originally had nothing to do with jazz.

IDA editor, responsible for the blue note, having ceased all activity over the past fifteen years, this reissue is a divine surprise and allows to rehear the one I consider the best French jazz saxophonist.
