The standard version of in absentia was already fabulous. Porcupine Tree is one of the few current bands that do not rest on its laurels and is innovative in permanence. This happy mixture of metal, progressive, trip hop and ambient is refined with each new album.
But, it is the big slap in 5.1 steve wilson singing in your living room, the bass sound is huge, the battery is full, everything is magnified without unnecessary effect. Oscillating between acoustic (guitar, piano) and big guitars that would denote not a black metal album, this album is a permanant happiness. We sit and listen, just to better appreciate every detail sound and we do not think of getting up to do something else
Moreover 3 clips and 3 unreleased tracks complete this upscale together. With products of this quality, the disk industry could stem the fall in sales. But everyone does not produce as good a music Porcupine tree ;-)
