The song of older lovers

If we only love remains (Hoffmann sings Jacques Brel) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Klaus Hoffmann's earlier fame as chansonnier had primarily to do with his outstanding interpretations of songs Jaques Brel. These interpretations were disrespectful and had a lot of charm by the rigor of his boyish relentlessness much of the gesture of the young Brel had to copy without this. Perhaps Hoffman has only later noticed on which giant he has tried there, because while he has refused these songs to sing in concerts. Brel had become the father figure from whom he had to get rid of-sing and write. Only more than 20 years later, Klaus Hoffman with the play "Brel - The Last Picture Show" again attempted to approach his great idol and thus verhoben vigorously. Perhaps it was at that time not a good idea to work with the arranger Francois Rauber Brel or the time just was not ripe.

Quite different this time. Only accompanied by the piano with inner fed outward intensity begin the chansons of Brel here again a whole new life of its own and will become apparent in the more mature interpretation of the adult Klaus Hoffmann in entirely new ways.
