John Powell, the currently most prominent and most accomplished composer for animated films, delivers to his magnificent score How To Train Your Dragon now also the music for the new, quietschbunten 3D animation family film "Rio". Herewith he proves once again that he is without doubt the premier league of Hollywood composers. Already the first track "Morning Routine" introduces the musical main theme and sets the pace for the most exciting and highly influenced by Brazilian music good mood score. Again, it creates Powell, perfect to accompany the turbulent action musically and plays as usual on the score of (happiness) feelings. Time orchestral tempered (eg in very rhythmic track 11 "UMBRELLAS OF RIO"), sometimes dreamily and quiet (eg Track 3 "GREAT BIG MOMMA BIRD"), with lots of different styles and frisky Mickey Mousing like in Ice Age 3 - Dawn of the Dinosaurs - the music for "Rio" is varied and offers something for everyone. The Hollywood Studio Symphony, conducted by film music specialist Pete Anthony plays wonderfully and takes the listener into 19 tracks (Total time about 47 minutes) with an entertaining musical journey into town at Sugarloaf.
