After the Storm (Audio CD)

Customer Review

CD 1:
01 - Intro: the steps to start an engine, the honking of several dozen cars and a scolding mother, who at Missy Elliott himself on the volume of their music on the radio ("So Gone") complains ... this is the very funny intro that is however enriching only by Missy's voice and where Monica is not represented at all. Musically and seen from the idea is not bad, but after all, missing the interpreter, which is very strange. (2)
02 - Get it off: The first song to be designated as a song is also one of the most distinctive and bleakest productions. "Get it off" has primarily a very rapid, hypnotic beats and Ol'School elements, the strong vocals and the gospel singing during the catchy hook harmonize completely together with Monica. Even the not noted guest appearance by DJ Scratchator adapts perfectly. (2)
03 - So Gone: Monica's first single is probably one of the most unusual R & B compositions of the year and remains the most unusual composition of the album. Missy Elliott, who also here had their fingers in the game, has conjured up a truly smoothen track that thanks to the nightly Feelings and the playful, bright Beats acts truly catchy and convinces with the vocal interpretation of Monica who is even a little in direction Rap dares. Anner knowing! (1)*
04 - U Should've Known Better: Coming here to another highlight of the album, which can prove a fortiori that ballads Monica are very special treat. Her voice here is clear, wonderfully soulful singing, which is ensnared by a hitverdächtigten melody. Especially during the Bridge of song unfolds its spectrum musical printed output, since the electric guitar contributes to the warm, yet sad mood of the track. (1*)
05 - Do not gotta go home: The gefeaturte DMX song is in spite of the deep, aggressive voice of his guest rapper who perhaps comes across loud and inappropriate in some places a bit, one of the songs of the CD chilligsten. Supported by guitar melody is tinged slightly Spanish and expressed again by the warm voice of Monica. Overall, here is therefore a quite excellent track before, which offers just the right thing for warm summer nights. (1-)
06 - Knock Knock: Another highlight is done, the - how could it be otherwise - was also produced by Missy Elliott and will therefore serve as a second single. "Knock Knock" turns out after a few seconds truly a pearl of good taste and at the same time proves that it is not (as it suggests initial) is a ballad, but a "Gone So" is -like title. Because "Knock Knock" is distinguished by its extremely ebebso nocturnal feeling and dreamy beats and leaves Monica's voice positively especially during the chorus stand out. (1)
07 - Breaks my heart: The second ballad, which the first has outdone in anything done. This song also has cuddly namely a pleasant atmosphere, which Monica's wonderfully clear voice and the shallow, sonorous piano music is mainly due to the background. Also, the polyphonic singing during the extremely catchy hook leaves on another catchy consequently no doubt and placed "Breaks my heart" in the Top 3 of the best songs of this CD. (1)*
08 - I wrote this song: One hit follows the next ... This song can integrate into the team, because "I wrote this song" is not only the most melodic song on the LP (which probably best left in the ear) but at the same time also the most personal. Finally, Mo has the entire mourning for her dead boyfriend processed therein, and thus describes all their impressions and feelings rumdum this event. (1)
09 - Is not gonna cry no more: Although Monica singing something seems schwächelnd here, the number is strongly reminiscent of the style, for example, Brandy or Toni Braxton what Darkchild Thanks to highly probable that here had a hand in the game and made a track has, seamlessly attaches itself to the modern R & B scene. Consequently, the beats are so highly innovative and seem sorgfältigt selected. (2)
10 - Go to bed mad: It follows a duet of the very special kind Finally, Monica and Tyrese are known for their unique voices and their associated vocal ways that beautifully harmonize precisely because of their black touches another and from "Go to bed mad," a dreamy. make ballad. One would the overall performance of the duo, although still not exactly catchy alls call, but she offers her own, feeling chilly. (2)
11 - Hurts The Most: At the latest, after hearing this track you have to be the slow pieces of the whole longplayer fall mercilessly, because as it turns out, has also "Hurts The Most" the ability to inspire and enchant. Unlike the other ballads, but it is also arranged a little joyful, which is mainly due to the Akkustkgitarren that accompanies the delicate, soulful singing throughout and leaves are somewhat reminiscent of older successes in terms of "Angel of Mine". (2+)
12 - That's My Man: The last song before the outro is the absolute worst bedauerlicherwiese song because "That's my man" has neither a catchy melody, nor a precise sequence of notes or a special package. It sounds more as if Monica that exploits their full vocal range here as well, would it happening sung and lyrics for any strange Beatgefolge quoted, thus do not want to harmonize. (4+)
13 - Outro: The end is presented by a remix of "So Gone", which was, however, shelled out a lot more on the part of Monica's and the guest appearance of Missy and Busta Rhymes. I would not say that the package is bad, but a little more creativity would have been by no means bad - despite the fact that the dialogue with Busta and the most striking Hook thrilled with the support of Tweet. (2)
CD 2 (Bonus Tracks):
01 - Too Hood: The gefeaturte and produced by Jermaine Dupris track is probably one of the most futuristic songs that Monica has been practiced. The seemingly fresh, echoing beats sound also extremely new and forms a realxten track to dance together with the voices of both artists. For the main CD of "After the storm" would be "Too Hood" But a spark was too extravagant ... Tip: The song wins after repeated listening constantly to sympathy. (1)*
02 - Down 4 Whatever: This also produced by Darkchild song, has once again after the tracks of his producers. "Down 4 Whatever" could in fact be quite a title Brandys CD "Full Moon", which was eventually turn composed by him for the most part. Yet Monica has even written their lyrics, thus creating their own flair. Just a pity that that the track jeodch some seasoning missing that makes a good Mis-tempo ballad. (2)
03 - What part of the game. Similar to "Get it off" from CD # 1 also this number has a dark undertone that expresses itself through organ sounds, deep songs and minor chords. Mia X's voice, Monica here supports, is strongly reminiscent lefteye Lopes of TLC and fits a helpful .. Ultimately, nothing moving, but not necessarily bad. (3)
Conclusion: With their third album Monica plays out all the cards, because in spite of many years of hiatus, she was able to gather a large crowd high-grade producers such as Missy Elliott, Darkchild or Jermaine Dupris around that you wrote a modern yet not exaggerated futuristic LP to his body or composed - and the new sound is fine, because Mo acts confident than ever and appears with her style a kind of alcove in the extensive world of R & B to have found. A erquicklichen part to provide guests as well as from DMX, Tyrese or Busa Rhyme that accompany Monica's flexibility and its penchant for collaborations with other singers or rappers have hopefully strengthened. However, this is not to say that Monica Arnold is dependent on others - No! For though her voice made no great change, she knows now visibly more mature and safer to deal with it than before and thrilled with it, especially in ballads, those musical style that you most probably lies with which they will surely convince their worst critics - finally heard "After the storm" probably slow one of the most diverse yet perfectly strukuturiertesten albums I are ...
Calculated average devaluation: 1.54 ~ an extremely affordable 1-2
