On my search for a textbook on "Electricity and Magnetism" I came across this work of L. Loeb and bought it without inspecting it. Firstly, the contents: It is a bit strange indeed Loeb starts with magnetism instead of electricity. Before the student has a notion of electrons and charges in general, he has to get aquainted to The Idea of current, ie moving charges. Further More, since this book is quite old, the Described experiments are a bit outdated, Although there are some interesting, forgotten methods described. Secondly, the printing quality: As the foreword says, this book is produced in mimeographic form. Many pages are in really bad condition Partially and impossible to decipher. As a result: This book is, in my humble opinion, not feasable to be used as a textbook. For Those who like antique books, It is a nice and pricy copy.
